Yea I dont pay too much attention to the gear recommendation anymore as soon as you hit 30 mph it basically tells you to go into 6th

I'm still getting used to it I have a habit of pressing the clutch pedal in all the way everytime but it's actually better to only press in about half way with our cars

Basically what everyone is is saying, hill assist rocks. The clutch depress to start can actually be coded out if you really wanted too BTW.

4. Annoying as hell. He keeps insisting upshifts on revs that are low already.

So auto rev match is triggered off the shift lever and not a combo of the lever/clutch - yeah, means don't delay releasing clutch or defeats the feature.

Has anyone notice that Auto start/stop will keep your car from stalling? like it will cut off the engine and if you press the clutch the engine will start up again

...or am I the only rookie here

Please tell me this "feature" can be turned off somehow. I drove my brother's Renault Alliance back in the '80s with a similar feature, and hated it back then.

It's a fricking M3, if I wanted to get good mileage I'd buy a diesel or an economy car.

It's just a very faint grey indicator making suggestions. Very easy to just ignore. The annoyance factor is at level of non existing. Is it useless? Totally, but annoying? No.

I'm trying to spot it in this video, but I don't see anything. I guess it is pretty innocuous. Is it visable in this clip and I don't see it, or is it near the top of the gauge cluster (or is this upshift indicator in HUD only)? Thanks.

Here's a post about how to turn the feature on and off on an E90. Maybe it's the same on the F80.

You can see it in the clip, but you have to know what you are looking for. It is just to the left of the gear indicator number and about half that size. If you will look closely. There are some times when he is in 4th, for example, that there is a 6 to the left. Very innocuous.

I got the shift feature coded in a couple days ago in my e93. Useless, sure, but I thought it was pretty cool.

I didn't know I had hill assist...until the car started moving back after 2 seconds. Definitely useful on steep hills. I think the rev matching downshifts is a cool feature but does it give that crisp lightening quick DCT downshifts? Still better than me I'm sure.

How can that "6" next to the "3" be called "big fat gray"?
