No, with MVP the second time they go there this year. Looks like it's Oct 22-23.

Removing NASA's April Lime Rock Park off the list because it is a muffled event. Car is way too loud. July will be unmuffled so keeping that.

I'm eyeing a two day event at WGI. One of the days is the Short Course. Anyone driven that and were you left craving the Long Course?

The NASCAR track? That's pretty cool actually.

Yes, short course is the NASCAR layout...perhaps this is my chance for a low 2.0x lap at The Glen (with a small*).

It's an SCDA event 5/2-5/3. Day 1 is the long course and Day 2 is the NASCAR layout.

That NASCAR layout is all throttle - 0.1 MPG guaranteed on the F8x lol.

I kind of like that setup where one day it's NASCAR and one day it's the full course. You can practice Front Straight all the way through the carousel which is like where 90% of the lap time is.

RIP your cats if your doing the NASCAR track, that's so much WOT. I wouldn't go all the way to the Glen to run the short track, especially if they run the same number of cars both days it would be very crowded.

We'll see you there.

If you're not a member with NASA let me know before you register, I'll give you a referral and then send you the coupon code I receive.

Who needs cats anyway?

I disagree though m8 - it's basically all WOT passing zone and the F8x rips at the Glen.

So I'm looking forward to the weekend of April 1-3 with the SD BMW CCA at Buttonwillow Raceway, near Bakersfield, CA. It will be a 3-day event, with Friday as a Solo/Advanced day. Also scheduled for that weekend is ITS, or Instructor Training School, and my wife has been nominated. She was supposed to do this in June 2020, but this was one of the events that got canceled and this is the first time since then that it's been scheduled.

Three weeks after that on April 22-24, the Audi Club of SoCal is having a 3-day HPDE at Spring Mountain Motor Ranch & Country Club in Pahrump, NV. This is an excellent private-membership facility. Friday will be an all-day open track day for Advanced Drivers. The only drawback is that it's ~5:20 drive which makes it a 5-day event, with a day to get there and a day to get back. The Audi club always puts on great events.

BMW CCA is having its annual Oktoberfest Forever celebration on September 27-October 10 in Palm Springs and will include events at the BMW Performance Center West in Thermal, and it's rumored there will be 1-2 track days on the Thermal track in your own car. Oktoberfest is always fun, even more so when there are track days!
Absolutely fell in love with Spring Mountain, we were on the Mansell C course and loved all 3.4 miles of it. Has a nice flow to it and the technical section/playground is just a blast.

Saw they paved a new circuit (just to the north), what an amazing facility.

What group did you go with? I've been there 3 times, the first 2 times with the LA Chapter of BMW CCA (2013 & 2015) and the last time with Audi Club SoCal (which we joined just for their HPDSs). The last time was April 2019, although we were scheduled for April 2020 but it got canceled. I think that the Audi Club went again last year, but we didn't go. (My wife also tracks her 2018 M3.)

Nice! Didn’t know there were that many groups that scheduled there.

Went in October with POC and heading back with them in April. BMW friendly group, Porsche Club.

I just registered for my first track day ever!

NASA NE - 3/19 NJMP - Lightning!!!

Unfortunately, I had to register for Saturday only. I'm going to need to ease my wife into this, haha.
Fingers crossed for good NJ weather in March!

Judging by the weather today, I'm hoping for the best. I should be registering as soon as OnTrack insurance calls me back so that I can get a policy with them again.

Any reason to do one before the other? I thought you already had registered.
My next step is insurance.

No, but I usually get insurance a week before just in case I can't make the event for whatever reason. I don't think it's refundable. You can do it two days before.

I'm probably signing up later today or tomorrow. I plan on being there.

At least one provider will issue a refund/credit if you don't attend the event. They require an attestation from the event organizer. I posted about this somewhere on the forum.

At least with ontrack, you can cancel up until midnight the night before the event for only a $25 penalty, or NO penalty by simply transferring the policy to a future event. Not too shabby.
