Thanks everyone. Everything is coming together in me mind. When do you guys think the E92/93 M3 production will stop?

Holy crap...what a waste of a thread. USE IT!...or better yet, you can just google these questions. Don't mean to be a jerk, just telling it like it is.

Neither.
Like all new high performance cars that BMW makes, there's bound to be one or two serious flaws with the car that will warrant a recall. Previous M3's and the current M5 is a testament to that. You can just buy an X5M or a Cayenne Turbo and call it a day. Those things are fast, seat 4 very luxuriously, and are pretty good looking.

Get the F80 M3 sedan. I had the same questions as you. I decided to go the F80 route and just put a deposit down (3rd one on the list) at Classic BMW in Dallas.

Yeah, it's a $1,000 refundable deposit to have a spot to order. There is very little information available through the dealer but they are taking deposits to hold spots. I figured that it doesn't hurt since it is refundable. The security deposit form guaranteed me the 3rd spot for the dealer and also mentioned that it will be sold at MSRP.

It probably depends on the dealer. I have a receipt and confirmation order form, as well as credit charge, to validate it. This dealer has also done business with my father for 20 years, but I highly doubt that would give me a lower deposit amount. Don't let them BS you.

Thinking about what happened when I got the 1st production of the F30 and the issues that came up makes me a bit concerned about getting a first production of the new M3. I think many here agree with that. So now, Im thinking about getting an E92 2013 around May of next year for 2-3 yrs then switching. Many of you talk about how awesome the S65 V8 and how people will miss it.

That's probably wise choice and if I hadn't just spent 2 weeks convincing the wife of the merits of the new plan, I'd consider going that route. However, since everything is covered under warranty, I'm willing to be the Beta tester for y'all. Though B-testing while on an ED could be potentially hairy....

Wraith, I was told ED won't be available for 6-12 months post the start of the first deliveries to the US. I feel like all the dealers are BS'ing everyone but just letting you know that's what I was told. My sales guy also mentioned that there most likely will not be a 7% discount for going the ED route.

Of course if ED F80s do NOT come out of dealer allocations AND the dealer denies the discount anyway, that would be stupendously greedy.

The guy I used for the ED of my Z specializes in Euro Delivery. It's kind of a pain because he's in a different state but we did everything over email/fedex and it was absolutely seamless. There was Zero negotiating, 1000 over invoice (Z4iS was brand new), and done. I trust him as he knows that I haunt these forums daily and come armed with the actual invoice prices.
Anyway, he seems to believe that a Sept. 2014 ED of the F80 is not a problem according the schedule that he has seen. Further, I can't imagine that, with a scheduled release in Germany of Fall 2013, that it wouldn't be available to pickup at Welt a year later. |

What's the advantage over the coupe with kids in the equation? The coupe still has room for car seats. A convertible would be the easiest to fit kiddos in, with the top down you have all the room you could want. |
