The M4 definitely needs hood vents, the powerdome gets lost without them

M4 is great, still E92 is my favourite M3 until now.

E36 still looks amazing.

Simply amazing. Other car companies don't even compete with this.

Say what you want, BMW does have a knack for making some pretty timeless designs that age extremely well over time. Good balance of aggressiveness without being loud/controversial. F32s on the other hand (vs the F82M4) could use some work in being more aggressive looking.

That hood line is just hideous, ugly, terrrbile, horrific!
Did I miss something?
The pedestrian explanation is just BS!

Why does everyone and their mother complain about the hood line? Its necessary I get it

BMW is not the only make with this line and it is not just the M4...look at all of the new Euro makes aside from the exotics. MB, BMW they are all having to design cars like this with the slanted front to engineer around it. Big deal

Prefer the M4.

Find it interesting that the M4 concept is larger in every way than the other two but still has lower height and thats a good thing.

new M4 is so aggressive. Still would give it to the e46 M3 though as the sexiest body produced by BMW.

I think BMW has not yet announced the M4 dimensions...

No of course not, IMO it is very sexy and I am a huge e30 fan. my childhood was spent watching old school rally races with my uncles on youtube from europe, but just something about that e46 that is so aggressive and subtle looking at the same time that always gets me. that and im probably pretty partial to em due to owning e46's and 0 e30's

soon though.

Awesome! I made a mistake and sold mine (e30) about 10 years ago.

As for the pictured cars I cannot help but think that cars are like people: they get fuller in the jowls and put on weight as the years go by.

I like all three of them to one degree or another. I think the first pic of the F82 makes the front end look a bit odd, especially right around the edge/gap between the hood's end and the bumper's start. I also think there's too much going on up front below the kidney grills. Otherwise, it's fine, and those things I mentioned are not even remotely enough to stop me from buying it.

Based on looks alone, I'd buy the E46. Accepting the reality that I don't own one now, I'd more likely buy the F82 because I could get it new and not have to wonder how it was handled in other folks' hands. If they can get the thing to the point it's not deemed a gas guzzler, I might actually buy an F82.

(I have a personal pet peeve about having to pay the gas guzzler tax on a new car, but not on used ones. Why should I pay that tax simply because I was willing/able to buy the car I wanted, but all the folks who buy one used shouldn't have to pay it to? The car doesn't cease to be a guzzler just because it's been titled and driven off the dealer's lot.)

All the best.

I will take the new rear end all day over the old models

I like the new lights and front grill but do agree the whole front end slopes down too much and think the front bumper was overkill, I liked the previous version better, split on the sides of this car, don't care for the side air vent.

M4 looks fantastic, although I would also like to see it in other colors, alpine white and jet black for starters. Hopefully the performance numbers will put an end to any conversations about it being to big, and crossing my fingers that the exhaust note will complement the attitude and looks of the car. I think BMW has a home run on their hands with the F82, just like they did with the E92.
