Powerstop track pads. Anyone use these?

I have the regular powerstop pads and have been very happy with them in terms of daily driving and greatly reducing brake dust. I was wondering if anyone has tried the track pads. Was thinking of trying something different for track days.

I'd stick with a proven product in this area. If you want to experiment with track pads, you should really have a backup set of pads you know will work with you at the track so you can change on the fly.

I have bought a set of the Power Stop Track Day pads and will be running them at COTA in a couple of weeks. Researched the online and ppl have nothing but good to say about them. For the price, its hard not to try them out.

Curious to hear your input. Definitely let us know. I'm running pagid rs29 on track days but would be up for a cheaper alternative...

Yes, please share your impressions mischiefbenz. I've seen a few reviews on the Corvette forums, where people say they worked well for them at VIR, but there's not a lot of info outside of that.

If these behave at 90% of RS29s, which I burn through, I'll pick up a set for testing next spring. A set of these front and back pads are about half the cost of just front RS29s!

Subscribed for updates on their performance at COTA. Would love a cheaper alternative to Pagid RS29s

Porterfield R4's are about $100 per axle less than the retail prices of the RS29/RSL1's if you want to stick to a known track pad and saving some cash.

COTA isn't a place you want to skimp on brakes FYI.

Installed the Power Stop Track Day pads today. Install was relatively straightforward. Only small hiccup is that the shims that come installed on the front pads were not installed flush to the short edge of the pads. As a result, they wouldn't fit into the caliper. I had to hammer the shim flush to the pad edge and they slid in with no issues.

Took them for a short test drive around the block and they have tons of initial bite. They feel great; so far so good. Will drive them around town for a couple of days and will bed them in per Power Stops recommendation tomorrow or Thurs. night in preparation for this weekends event at COTA.

Pads handled COTA like a champ this past weekend. Great bite with no fade nor the dreaded green calipers. Surprisingly they don't squeak when driving on the street.

They don't seem to have worn down very much either. Hopefully I'll get the chance this weekend to take them out and measure how much they wore.

Would definitely recommend them to others.

What kind of tires were you on and were you using MDM/DSC?

Falken FK453's in MDM mode. Need to get euro MDM coded. Standard MDM is way too intrusive.

On a proper track tire I think the results will be very different. Grippier tires demand more from brakes. Not many track users are using UHP class tires.

Interested in these as well. Substantial cost savings versus Pagid, Carbotech etc.

Swapped back to my stock pads last Sat. after completing another HPDE event on Fri. at COTA. Only had 2 mm of wear on the fronts pads & 1 mm on the rear after 3 days at COTA. Brakes were great during all 3 events.

Thanks for posting this up!
Any rotor deposit problems with the stock pads?

How's the brake dust on these powerstop track pads as oppose to our stock factory pads??

Lots of brake dust as well. I don't think any track pad will be low dust.

True test of pads will be on track, not testing them on the street...it'll be interesting to get feedback after a few 20 minute hard sessions with the pads smoking..

also curious, why try this when there are so many excellent reputable pads out there - Pagid, PFC, Ferodo, etc.

Because they cost hundreds more than PowerStops? These are $80 a pair, Pagid RS29 are what? 300-? The hundreds saved can go to another track event. I'm sure there not as good as Pagid etc, but not by much.

Just bought a set, will be trying these at the Glenn, Lime Rock and other tracks this season. Hopefully they work well as most reviews state on various car forums.
