M Performance Suspension Helper Spring

Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the rear helper springs on the M performance/KW HAS kits? Does it just hold the main spring in place under articulation or does it affect the ride in any way?

It's to keep the mainspring in place under droop. It should be fully compressed at static ride height (so it doesn't affect the ride).
