I am having the same issues with it freezing and restarting. My iphone 7 does it in my m4, and my wifes iphone 7 does it in her m235 as well. My tundra is perfectly fine and all other bluetooth devices work great. Not sure which is at fault, as I can sense there will be finger pointing if I contact either.

Just got my 7. Mine is having the same issue with iOS 10...just downloaded 10.1 and this is supposed to solve some of the bluetooth issues supposedly.

Outside of my iPhone 7 ALWAYS saying "No Service" up top... seems to work just the same as my 6s.

Seriously shitty reception. Have an appointment at the Genius Bar Saturday. Maybe it's just a lemon phone.

Had 2 drop outs yesterday. Music would just stop, but look like it's continuing to play on phone. Turning Bluetooth off/on fixed it.

One thing I've noticed, and it may just be a coincidence, is I don't see any drops if I leave my iDrive screen on the list of external devices (as opposed to clicking on my iPhone to see artist info/artwork).

I have a reached out to apple and they put me in contact with a senior analyst who I have made aware of the problem we are having with the iPhone 7 and our vehicles. I sent him a link to this thread on the forum. He requested I send him a log file from my iPhone. I sent him the log file yesterday. He stated he was going to pass the log file over to his software engineers to look into the issue. He also mentioned that in addition I should reach out BMW to ensure I have the latest software update. I plan on checking in with him once a week. I will keep you updated on what I find out.

Beat me to it!

Also, I can confirm that iOS 10.1 Beta does not fix this.

I tried this:

Quit all apps
Opened only Spotify
Started playing a song in a playlist
locked my phone
switched to bluetooth audio
songs played fine

UNTIL

I touched my phone, as soon as I turned the screen on, everything stoped working.

Lots of issues with cell signal strength on the 7. If you're streaming audio, then that will cause the drop outs. Not sure about any downloaded music. I just got my 7 on Friday so I will be testing with bluetooth.

Here's a link to Macrumors where the cell signal strength is an issue. The topic discussed has to do with Verizon, but all carriers seem to be affected:

The only fix I have is to connect the phone by USB and have bluetooth enabled at the same time... Music works through USB and calls do not drop by bluetooth.

While connected to bluetooth the phone drops bluetooth service every minute and fails to connect

I have downloaded version 10.0.2 and still not working. When I called BMW Genius the told me basically that Apple do NOT let them test the new iPhone 7 before release. So they have no answer to the problem. He advised me to keep calling every week since they don't know who's at fault in this situation. SMH..

Despite hoping that some magical power would prevent me from having issues, I too experience issues with Bluetooth/my new iPhone 7. The only thing that seems to work somewhat reliably is connecting through USB, and sometimes that even results in the car claiming the devices is "Not Supported". Here's to hoping for a fix soon!

Same problem here with an iPhone 7. I can get about one song in. Worse yet, sometimes USB doesn't work after the bluetooth craps out. Deeply frustrating.

One more to add to the bunch. iPhone 7 with iOS 10.0.2 here - same issues.
Bluetooth phone works. Bluetooth audio doesn't work for any tunes on the phone or via an app (DI.FM).
Patiently waiting for a better update from apple:/

While we wait for a solution, I disable audio through bluetooth but leave telephone enabled and plug in USB for spotify BMW app.
