European Delivery Coming out of Lease

I'm halfway through a 36 month 535 lease but looking at a M3/M4 next and would like to do the European delivery. How have others approached this? Did you time the order so that your current lease would be up? If so what did you do for the 4-6 weeks waiting on your car to be shipped?

Thanks for any advice. Just trying to figure out the best way to time this.

I timed what i thought would be my redelivery to the US with my expiring lease that way i still had a car during the re-delivery waiting perior. My lease expired July 13. My ED pick up date was May 14th and i was gonna keep the car for two weeks. I am on the east coast so i assumed 6 weeks would be enough so my car would get back to me by July 13th.

What actually happened - The car got delayed by an extra 4 weeks because they had to replace the windshield so I extended my old lease by a month.

Same here. I did ED in early June, and my lease was matured on July 26. Dropped the car off on June 11 and it got redelivery to SoCal dealer on July 30. BMW FS let me keep the lease for extra few days until I picked up the car.

yup just have BMWFS extend the lease. For my last one I extended 2 months and then got a rental for 2 weeks

Your best bet is to discuss this with your dealer. They'll have the best handle on how long it typically takes for cars to show up for redelivery. Having allocations available is obviously a concern as well. You typically want to be placing your order and selecting ED dates 4-5 months beforehand. East coast redelivery is usually about 5-6 weeks if you're dropping off in one of the main drop off locations (Munich seems fastest). So, essentially, be ready to pull the trigger on an order about 6 months before your lease is up. As others have said, if the new car doesn't arrive in time, BMWFS will usually extend your lease month-to-month.
