Increased lease buyout discount from BMWFS
My 2018 M4 lease end is coming up in less than 90 days, so had been keeping an eye on the payoff. This whole time the "Customer Purchase Promotion" discount used to be $800, similar to what most forum members have reported before, but this week the discount has jumped up to 3k. Most likely due to the pandemic.
Was already considering buying out at lease end but this sweetens the deal some more. Especially compelling after looking at the used pricing thread where you definitely don't see a 2018 ZCP for 41k. Good time to buy if you are in similar shoes. Separately, does anyone know if you can finance directly through BMW FS for lease buyout. So far I've been led to believe I can't and my options are either cutting FS a check or going through the dealer to finance or find another bank I suppose. |

On the BMW FS account page, hit "Get payoff documents" which will download a PDF with details. If it applies to you, you'll see a row with this amount in payoff amount breakdown on page 3.

Would this only impact those leases that expire in the near future? If I was looking for a car whose lease is up in 12 months, if I do the buyout now I wouldn’t get any discount right?

I would think so but imagine it will apply down the road when we really start to see the fallout from all of this.

Update on my payout
BMWFS is now offering me a $5500 payoff discount. August 25 end of lease date.
Payoff Amount This payoff is good through May 22, 2020. Balance $48,355.80 - Customer Purchase Promotion $5,500.00 + Sales / Use Tax $0.00 + Outstanding Late Charges $0.00 + Other Outstanding Charges $0.00 = Total Lease Payoff $42,855.80 - Security Deposit $0.00 = Net Payoff $42,855.80 With only 18k miles driven so far I think I will accept it. Besides there is nothing else I would rather be driving (hopefully, eventually.) |

Hopefully this trend continues. I would love to buy my M4CS at lease end at a decent discount

I did call about finance through BMW but their rates were not competitive. Local credit union had the best rates. Didn't talk to the dealer, either. |

so i just spoke to them a min ago, the current buy out discount for 2018 m4cp is 3000 off. there is nothing they can change. he does asking if i can provide the last 7 vin if someone else receives more discount, they can take a look and match if its the same year and model. every month is different so just keep checking.

My account shows 3k off for 2018 M4 ZCP. (Attached)
At this point, we also know that while 2018 4 series gets 3000 off, the 2018 3 series gets 5500 off. And a post on another forum shared that 2018 5 series/M5 gets 7500 off. So it's basically predetermined depending on model and year, no room to negotiate, but does seem to get us a pretty sweet deal compared to market rate of similar used cars. |
