Single Midpipe Sound

I’ve been looking in to getting a MAD single unresonated midpipe and was wondering realistically how much louder it’s going to make the car. I’ve seen some people say on the forum that it’s a small increase and others say it’s a big increase. Would like to get a clear answer before purchasing one

I have the AA non-resonated single midpipe + the original AA 3-can rear muffler. The exhaust sound was very smooth for a s55 and the volume was loud but nowhere near being obnoxiously loud. The single midpipe by itself probably increases the exhaust volume by ~15-20% over stock - definitely loud enough for people to notice that the exhaust is not stock.

I have the MAD single non-resonated mid pipe paired with stock downpipes and stock rear muffler on a 2018 F80 Competition. Without any quantitative measurements to back it up, my "ear dyno" estimates 20-30% louder than stock any maybe a deeper (i.e. lower frequency) tone. Cold starts are notably louder.

the single midpipe is the best upgrade you can make to your exhaust in my opinion. it will make the car 25% louder, but more importantly , it makes the sound much deeper in the midrange, which i really like

With a otherwise stock vehicle i'd say 25-30% louder. It's very noticable and more than enough of an increase for most people to be content with.

It is definitely louder, I think single midpipe and catless downpipe with stock muffler is the best exhaust option. gives it a deeper, less raspy tone compared to the equal length, more muscley sounding. Also pretty cheap and easy to install

Does MAD make a resonated version?
Does resonated primarily reduce rasp or also mute the sound output?

One of my primary objectives is eliminating as much rasp as possible.

We are currently making one probably 2-3 months until its ready to sell.

Yes, the resonated will help but not eliminate rasp for those with downpipes. It does reduce volume a smidge but not that much.

If you do not have downpipes the Non resonated version will be fine.

I have the AA catted Downpipes, also with the intention to reduce rasp.

I don’t think MAD has resonated ones but active autowerke and I THINK VRSF has resonated ones. I’m not sure if it eliminates rasp but the resonated ones I’ve heard are barely an increase in sound compared to stock but they do help with tone. The best way to get rid of all rasp is with the AA equal length midpipe. As well as not going catless and I’m not sure about the rear muffler.

In summary, AA EL midpipe is the best way to eliminate rasp

Interesting. I’ve heard the opposite. Single less raspy than EL.

Active autowerke adding two resonators to their equal length made it a lot less aggressive (whether that's good or bad is a personal decision)

i'd still go with the single if you want minimal rasp
