BM3 Map Switching, Going to From Stage 1 to Stage 2, and Spark Plugs Working Together
Hey Guys,
I am currently running high flow catted down pipes, on M4 GTS exhaust, with a BM3 stage 1 93O tune. Really have enjoyed this tune so far... I saw recently, we can now map switch which is prompting me to want to buy the stage 2 93O tune now that I can switch em' up on the fly. I am wondering how you ACTUALLY do that from MY MAPS. I saw the guys from ProTuning Freaks, say you can create those "map switch" maps in MY MAPS but wasn't sure if there is a no kidding "how to"(sorry if I've missed it). I feel like I missed the how to piece. Secondly, If I purchase the Stage 2 93O with the downpipes, I "should" purchase the NGK 97506 "2 Step Colder" Spark Plugs right? Forgive my ignorance, but if I do that, would it inhibit the way the car ran on stage 1 or stock if I were to map switch? Is there a happy medium to consider setting the gaps for map switching in this scenario? Appreciate the help and insight. Thanks!

Hi bud,
The NGKs are optional. Right now I'm running stock plugs gapped 23 with a Paul E85 tune, my Stg2 E30 and 93. If you do put in NGKs go with 21. That's from Paul and works great with any tune except super-race. -TJ

Great! No DIY needed. Just see my second ("Quick and Easy...") post (to you) for step by step flashing instructions. Ok., Here's the lowdown... The "OTF Map Switching" solution that PTF came up with includes the following: * "AntiLag" - this is a rolling launch capability basically, to spool up turbo's. * They also released something called a "CustomROM" which - AFAIK - is to allow tuners to tailor their clients custom tunes ("FlexFuel") to allow for the above feature. For those mortals amongst us... * They released two specific maps they call "MultiMaps" - These are flashable firmware, like the standard OTS Maps, that each have 4 pre - programmed (fixed) selectable OTS map like options within each of them. > "Stage 1" (4) & > "Stage 2" (4). The actual "OTS OTF Map Switching" feature is made up, at present, of these 8 different selectable map choices. (See below) Quote:
