Can someone explain this "Civic M3" meme? Where did this come from?

It was from the Official M3/M4 ZCP thread where a bunch of early adopters were worried that their cars were just plain and civic like and determined to be pretty much obsolete now the Comp Package is out.

My vote is mistake.
Ok, this air susp thing needs to be cleared up. Does it exist with ZCP and if so how is it applied. If it does, it with the wheels will push me away from the ZCP. Just don't want it. And if it is included, why????

Not a fan of 666, though it seems like the wheel of choice if you are murdering out your ride.

Need to keep them clean. Many owners overlook this.

Although, I do wish I had the silver 437s some days

I wonder when BMW NA will update their configurator so we can see the options on there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will have the option to choose different wheels. I'm liking all the updates -wheels.

Besides in the CP version, the regular Adaptive suspension $1,000 option also says rear air suspension so I don't think this is any different than the previous adaptive option.

So in other words, like on a daily basis, no one here has any idea what's going on.

Any way to get parking sensors or rear view camera as standalone option?

I want a base car with ZCP and nothing else.

This is nearly 100% certain to be a mistake in the guide. BMW NA is notorious for not proof reading and verifying documents before they release them.

It will also save you money on adding the black grille, side markers and black M3 badge and not to mention that the exhaust is beefed up in the sound dept. So that's like another $1k in cosmetic mods savings for things 80% of owners want to upgrade. For me this comp pack would really be costing $2200. I consider that a steal.

I'll answer your question since no one has. They are often installed inside the springs in the rear suspention of race cars. They allow to diminish the "squatting" when launching the car thus providing more grip

They do not replace the springs like the air ride struts found in those "bagged" low cars or luxury barges (like in the X5/X6 or MB E and CLS class)

Because they are not dynamic, but inflated/deflated before the race, they do not necessarily require a tank, and only a small compressor.

Having such bags in an M would be a first for sure, but not something unique in the racing world.

pic of installed bags for reference :

I'm quite sure the phrase's use originated before that, at the very latest, with the e9X introduction of the ZCP.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=452960&highlight=m3+civic

Perhaps aajami coined the phrase. Perhaps not.

Correct..... Bunch of non-ZCP E9Xs became Civics the second ZCP was offered in back Jan 2010. I ordered mine in in Feb 2010 shortly after the release.

I am about to pull the trigger on the M4 but extremely low mileage C4S' are popping out everywhere almost near $30-$40K off of MSRP making it a pretty difficult decision.

1st world problems.

This is just another example of the option code reuse. 490 does not include lumbar support.

"Air suspension" in the description for option 2VF is an old typo that could also be found in early F30s. All you have to do to confirm this, is go to one of the ETK sites, plug in VIN K337464 (one of several already built ZCP-equipped M4s), and check the installed hardware.

Nope, rear view camera and park distance control only come with the exec pack. Not available as stand alone options at all.
