Launch Control not working properly...
Hey lads, have a little issue on my 2017 F80 M3.
The launch control doesn’t work properly. Now, it engages it fine, it will sit there on launch and I can adjust the revs. However when I launch, it attempts to go and immediately dies? The revs die and nothing happens. After a second or so it pulls off normal? Any ideas? The car has GTS settings flashed on, but been flashed by a well known person and I’ve been assured it’s correct. Any help appreciated. |

You can't feather the throttle or move it. If you let off even a little it'll cut all the power for a few seconds like you said. You have to keep the pedal all the way down the whole time and it'll shift on its own.

This is correct, the launch control can act very odd.
I have a '18 ZCP. Even when I was 100% bone stock and after the 1200 mile break in service, letting off the brakes after seeing the checkered flags come up would be one of three things- 1. Launches as intended with minimal wheel slip and great acceleration (happened 33% of the time) 2. Wheels spun and revs went straight to redline with absolutely zero traction (happened 50%) 3. Car would have moderate wheel spin off the line (for about 0.5 seconds and I would move maybe 2 meters) and then completely cut power to the wheels, despite having never let off the throttle (happened a few times) After tuning the car, it launched properly MOST of the time but still does #3 from above. It no longer spins into oblivion (#1) though. |

This is exactly what’s wrong with my car no.3. If someone could tell what I need to replace I’ll do it. Just hoping it’s not a trans. Can someone reply with some input?

Does it shift on its own? I didn't know that. N I'm always shifting early. Still new to this thing.

This is your problem then. You're commanding an upshift around the same time the TCU is commanding an upshift. So the car is shifting from 1st to 3rd with a power interruption.

A few key assumptions here:
If these items are properly met, Launch Control is easy and straightforward to pull off with the DCT. I haven't had a failed attempt in 3 years of driving (excluding events of operator error).

Launch Control performs better for me now than it ever has before. It's actually "usable" now (assuming weather/pavement conditions are appropriate).

I'm not an expert - but surprisingly the launch control system works pretty well, even adding ~80 wheel horsepower with the stage 1 tunes. I think the traction control systems detect wheel spin and add/pull power accordingly, regardless of peak power figures. My 60ft times are the same with a stock tune and a stage 1 tune, buy my 0-60 times are much better (~4.1 stock, 3.6 with stage 1)

It looks like launch control worked. It just looks like the car griped and bogged down to much, causing the launch control to deactivate. You should try launching at a higher rpm and see if that helps.

I also did try different launch instead of in the 2’s and tried launching at 3500 and still nothing. I have new tires too. |
