Which version of iDrive is coming in the latest (2019 MY) M4 and what is the latest available in ANY other vehicle? Main question is, how far behind is the current available (or order-able) M4.

If I had to guess, it would be ID 6 with the latest firmware update for current cell phones and the latest car firmware (also called I-Step) for the car based on the production month (i.e. the iDrive control unit will have the latest firmware). And I think you should get touchscreen as well.

Although, it would not surprise me if the cell phone software is not up to date out of the factory. But that update is easy to do from the BMW USA site.

Idrive 6 is what you will get on the f8x series.
Idrive 7 is latest.

Yeah, the M cars are out after the new generation for that car comes out. Given the f8x platform is at the end of life its what you get.

Doesn't make sense to integrate a shiny new ID7 into a car that's done, you're getting what is left on the part shelf at this point

Not true.

Blackline Taillights for F30 and F80. 6WB for F30. Even touchscreen for F30 and F80 before F82.

Many new items in the end of run.

I suspect that many 2020 Models will get an iDrive 7 option.
