German oil filter

Can I get some recommendations for German oil filters and a part# for the M4 competition - 2019 F82?

I was recommended a company called MANN. Anyone opinions?

Want to do an oil change with Liqui Moly every 5k miles. It’s my daily driver.
This is what Liqui Moly recommended for our cars:
Part number - 20444 for 5 liters
… I think the car takes 6.5 L

I a little puzzled why they recommended that oil though. They said it’s their oil specifically for bmw’s … but, in this article it says for older bmw’s…

The link to the MANN filter is right.

Pick better than LiquiMoly. What's your use case? Daily nanny, daily hard, some track, lotsa track, dragstrip, drifter?

Daily through some track:
Motul Sport Ester 5W40 Synthetic
Oil changes every 5-7K.
https://a.co/1bslHUy

Lotsa track, drag or drift:
Motul 300V 5w30 Synthetic Racing Oil
Oil changes every 1.8-2.5K.

Daily Nanny… but I want something that can handle performance when I do drive it harder. I want to learn to take twisties and learn the cars limits so the excitement right now is straight line pulls, and the occasional hard cornering… but I really baby it most of the time, and even drive in eco mode to save on gas (it was over $7/gal for premium!) I saw it down to 6.60 at a Shell the other day, so I’m staying optimistic. Anyway, still not driving the car anywhere near what the thing is capable of.

I want the best oil I can get … period. I don’t care if I’m not always driving it hard. I don’t want to cut any corners. I was told liqui moly is the best stuff you can put in these things. You don’t agree?

Someone also recommended this:

https://www.amazon.com/Royal-Purple-...s%2C171&sr=8-4

But I was told Liqui Moly because it’s actually made for German cars.

Here's one of our Oil Bibles. Start reading on page 2 where Edycol starts giving info. He is a Yoda of oils. Read all his info before asking any questions.

Another engine oil thread. Castrol Edge/Pennzoil/ Liqui Moly? https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1764629

Short answer…LiquiMoly advertises.
Motul is damn good oil. High quality, but pick the right use.

If not stock oil then do Sport Ester above.

I read a lot of the thread and my head is spinning.

Which oil do I want for the best performance even though I don’t use the performance all the time because it’s a DD? After reading … I think I need an oil that is BMW certified because I have a 7 yr extended warranty.

Is your recommendation for best protection and performance Motul synthetic 5w30? Which line of Motul? The first one you posted? That’s pricy stuff… but I’ll do it if it offers the best protection and performance.

Could it void my extended BMW warranty?

Or maybe I should just let the dealership change my oil?
Is the oil the dealership uses good for protection and performance?

Could it void warranty?

Is it 5w30 like the dealership recommends?

How is it different from the above recommended?:
Motul Sport Ester 5W40 Synthetic
Oil changes every 5-7K.

Thanks all

That specific 5w40 tested closer to 5w30 viscosity, therefore the recommendation. Aside from the quality base stocks, it also has a good additive package to cover daily driving and short trips, which is hard on oil.

And it’s also LL-01 approved?

Now how to afford 70x2 for an oil change, plus the cost of the mechanic doing the oil change

Where’s the cheapest place to get that oil? As I mentioned it’s 69.95 for 5L on Amazon.

My mechanic said he would do Liqui Molly and German filter for 250.
Wonder what the damage would be with the one you recommend.

It's soooo easy to change your own oil. Watch the YooToob of Tommy L Garage. He does all sorts of DIY.

You could always buy BMW TPT oil from FCP Euro…you know that's approved, and from FCP it's basically free the second time on.
