Slack in gear lever.
Hi everyone.
Recently i have noticed, or rather reacted to that my gear lever feels a bit sloppy. There is no preload to it like on my E90's i have for example. I have looked at the linkage construction and there is no springs for preload of the lever like on E46 and E90 models. My question is if anybody else has experienced the same thing on their manual F8X and what was done to solve this. I wonder if the plastic ring that surrounds the "ball" on the gear lever itself is what gives the preload? Any tips are welcome. Johnny. |

i already have a short shifter. I will have a look at the fastening points on the gear lever and the linkage as i suspect that something has come loose. The car has 26000 miles on it and i drive it carefully so it's not a normal slack because of wear, if not the plastic ball clip around the gear lever is damaged in some way.
