I felt the torque increase immediately. The car feels better all around. I like the GTS tune makes the car pop and crackle. I need to jump back in my 16 M4 to compare again but overall I am very happy with the CS!

Any speculation as to what is making the CS have a more tactical or connected feel? The feel is what's most important to me. Lap times are only important when trophies or prize money is involved!

Guess - Lighter wheels, retuned suspension and a few more ponies.

I would say anyone turned off by how the F80 was should try a CS.

It truly does feel totally different in everything from directness of steering to how buttoned down the suspension is. Traction control works with you instead of fighting you. It wont just snap out instantly like my old F80's. Exhaust and power are much stronger and better sounding.

I have came from a coded and GTS tuned F80 and it just does not feel at all the same. So I'm not sure what was done but it rocks!

Only thing I miss is anti glare high beams.

I've wondered this as well... based upon what some are saying it's more than just suspension programming/coding. Has anyone confirmed suspension hardware differences (other than wheels)?

Most, if not all, of the programming/coding can be done by any reputable coder and tuner. The DCT, EDC, steering, and rear diff/MDM can be coded to any F80 - and those who have done it have reported improvements. So if all of the hardware is the same, it stands to reason there would not be a large gap in 'feel'. Obviously the wheels and slightly lower weight make a difference as well, but not sure how much. I need to test drive one!

According to folks who’ve done the research, BMW mixed and matched different existing F8X suspension components for the CS and then tuned the electronics to suit.

Has anyone tried to add in an armrest after the fact? I know BMW used to sell a performance armrest, would that work or it not possible the way it's set up?

What about the steering wheel? How do you guys like the alcantara compared to the leather?

I love the wheel, but to be honest, I am slightly concerned about how well it will hold up after a couple years. I've been looking at cleaning kits for the alcantara and it seems pretty simple, so I think it will be okay.

As for the armrest, I don't even notice that I don't have it.

I'm a fan of the alcantara steering wheel. It's much meatier than the standard M3 wheel, which I really like. As previously stated, I'm somewhat concerned with how it will hold up long term. Swissvax and Sonax sell an alcantera cleaning product that I'll look into.

I love the CS steering wheel! I jumped back in my M4 and the wheel felt a little puny

New member introducing myself, if any of you frequent Rennlist I am “Cherryblock”, relatively interesting collection. Stumbled on an M3 CS at my Porsche store and fell in live with it. My dealer has both an M3 CS in SMB and an M4 CS in LRG. Nether has carbon brakes, not a deal killer for me. I’m vascilating between the two, I know I’m on an M3 CS section but as a novice BMW guy ( this will be used as my DD in the summer, but only between downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan Beach (100 mile drive, My G wagon pulls duty in the winter.) I think I’m leaning M3 but would love your feedback on differences. My deal is about the same on both, 15K off sticker, M3 CS is 102+ sticker, M4 CS is 109 before discounts, not fussed about the 7k delta.

The steering wheel is one of my favorite features of the CS. Alcantara definitely requires more care. I've always used Sonax.

I'd say to get the M3 CS, but I am biased.

You already have some nice two door cars in tour stable, so do you need another 2 door?

Also, the M3 CS is more limited, so that might matter if you are keeping the car long term. I believe on 607 M3 CS were produced.

I didn’t realize the M3 CS was more limited than the M4 CS, Is that 607 US market or total? Your right on the two door vs 4 comment, thx

I say it really depends what you are after. The M4cs is slightly more biased towards performance and driving experience with more weight reduction, less sound deadening and a stiffer suspension while the M3cs is slightly more biased towards comfort and practicality with 4-doors, a plusher interior and a higher-end sound system. That bias difference is however very slim.

Chose whichever rocks your boat

Maybe not "the best" feature for me, but I do find the CS steering to increase the connectivity with the car and is an important element of the CS experience.
