Warm up / Start up time?

Hey, just curious, how long do you wait after turning the car on before going about your business? Is two minutes too short?

No, too long.

There is no need to idle the car to warm up. I drive immediately but take it easy until the car is up to temperature.

And the car warms up faster when driving than idling.

I usually wait for the revs drop under 1k about 10-20 seconds after startup until putting it in drive and going. Then wait until the tach lights show the car is warmed up until driving in the higher rev range.

Don't wait, there's no point. 2 minutes is ridiculous, you're not launching a space rocket.

It takes only a few seconds for oil pressure to build up. I usually let the car roll back in neutral on my drive way until I hit the street, maybe 10 seconds, then I put it in gear and drive off slowly.

Like everyone else said, no need to wait at all. Simply start the car and drive off. In fact, if you read the owners manual it specifically states that you should not allow the car to sit and "warm up".

I usually wait ~30-60 seconds, and take it easy and gradually get on it harder as it gets up to temp. In cold weather I will let any car warm up idling for 1 to
5 minutes. More if there is ice that needs melting on windows or something.

Idling the car to warm up, especially in the colder temperatures, may actually increase wear in the engine. While this was an almost necessary practice with carbureted cars (warm up enough to allow driving the car without choke), it is not necessary for fuel injected cars. This is because with fuel injected cars the ECU adjusts the fuel/air ratio to run the car richer when the engine is cold (essentially what "choke" does for carburated cars). The extra fuel with the richer mixture when the engine is cold can get on cylinder walls and wash out the oil, and also dilute the oil.

The ECU will keep the the air/fuel ratio rich until the engine reaches a minimum temperature, and given that it takes much longer to bring the engine temperature up by idling than driving, this rich condition will last longer during idling, hence the possibility of added wear during extended idling in colder temperatures.

Synthetic oils typically have a much higher Viscosity Index than mineral oils and flow well even at colder temperatures, so once the oil pressure has established after starting the engine (a few seconds), there really isn't any reason to idle the car to warm it up, other than to ensure ice/snow has melted and there is adequate visibility of course.

I take about 15 seconds before I start moving the car.

I'll take about 5-7mins of driving before I put in Sport+. Should I even care about the "warm-up period" before putting car into Sport+?

You need to wait precisely 12.375 seconds. Waiting any longer will result in the engine exploding. Not waiting exactly 12.375 seconds will result in the engine exploding!

About 30-60 secs.
If I’m loading up the kids (2 of them) I usually start up the car in the garage and whatever time it takes to get them strap in that’s how long I roll back out.

I do the same thing. ~4-5 mins before sport, and another few after that before sport+. Basically sport+ only when oil is 100% up to temp. On the shutdown side I usually put it into efficient mode for the last minute or so before parking to let the turbos take it easy. I am 100% we dont need to worry about any of this, but do it anyway.

I usually start and drive 3 miles and do my first drift, exactly .5 miles from work.

Once the revs drop, then pull out and get that sweet cacophony of "engineered" sound akin to an old pushrod V8 with too much cam duration.

I work early in the mornings and cold start is little loud with valves opened constantly. I roll back and drive off as soon as I can but keeping the rpms below 3k til the car warms up.
