CS vs GTS coding
With the CS released and more experience gained, has there been a determination on which modules are better to code to ZCP (or base) car? I know GTS DCT was a big thing, but is the CS DCT better? Curious to know what the preferred combo is so I can get my car updated.

I've always been more inclined to use the cs codings for steering, diff, mdm since the hardware is essentially the same as a zcp - having already done this on my zcp it does make a difference, car just feels smoother overall when putting down power
The trans software is something in going to try back to back as I can easily do it on my phone with the Thor app, but I'd imagine cs is better as it's newer coding than gts I'm on the cs trans software atm and it's gotten rid of the jerking when downshifting coming to a stop. It's still there randomly in manual mode but non existent in auto |

I remember reading in Auto Motor und Sport that BMW also made good improvments to the ABS calibration on the CS to better take advantage of the extra grip of the PSC2. They found the CS to stop on a significantly shorter distance than the GTS: 128.9m for the CS vs 137.7m for the GTS from 200km/h to zero.

And how are the results? Is the change in steering and the diff worth it? |

The steering and diff coding are both well worth it in my opinion. I currently have both of those modules coded to GTS. Compared to the standard ZCP coding, the steering feels more natural with a lot less of a dead zone right off center. Sport and Sport+ felt unnecessarily firm like the steering wheel was just resisting turning for no reason especially at low speeds so I would always use Comfort steering mode. After the coding, I use Sport steering at all times. It feels just right to me. The differential coding is less immediately obvious but I feel like I can more easily power out of higher speed turns and feel the traction available whereas the ZCP rear diff programming was quicker to over power the rear tires and/or trigger traction control. My impression is that ZCP is set up to be more of a hooligan, more willing to kick the tail out, while the GTS programming is a little more serious, more willing to search for traction. I get the impression that lockup is increased a little more gradually vs the ZCP programming which would explain what I'm feeling. It's a subtle difference but one I really like. When I want to slide the car, it still locks up and gets nice and sideways but I just feel like I have an easier time *not* sliding when I don't want to. |

In my opinion Thor is much too expensive.
I'd do it for the half to everybody here. Thats crazy to want that amount of money for a flash of data that was not written by their own. |

The app works great, just plan for at least 15 minutes for it to flash all of the modules which was surprising to me. They said an update is coming soon to allow you to only flash individual modules so you don't have to do all of them together.
I flashed back to stock to gather my impressions on how it differed from the coding I had previously done but have been too busy to flash anything else in yet. |
