Can you reupholstered an OEM steering wheel?
I'm not big on the leather steering wheel and don't want the 12 O'clock strip on the M Performance Alcantara option. Does anyone know if it's possible to reupholster the OEM steering wheel and still retain the heating function?
I do not want to modify the wheel. Essential just re-skin in 9002 or 9040 Alcantara.

Yes I would contact Coby Wheel. They don't have the F8x listed on their site to my knowledge but a steering wheel is a steering wheel and they will do custom requests.

so is it safe to reupholster the stock wheel to Alcantara and keep the heat function??
any over heating issues or anything?? If not.. why does the Mperformance wheel lose the heated wheel function?

I was wondering the same thing. BMW could have easily retained the heating function with the alcantara wheels, but chose not to (....presumably due to heat reasons).
