Competition package... exhaust still needed??
Just found my 2018 M3, it has the comp package which I believe doesn't change the sound much correct? I had an M4 until 2016 and hated the stock exhaust sound until I got my AWE. Is it worth changing the exhaust from the comp package?

I found it sounded great stock low down but lacked up top! so I deleted secondary cats and the centre resonator and sounds perfect in my opinion! deleted cold start too (as thats crazy even stock) and now its no long raspy when cold

different strokes for different folks. When you get the car drive it, if you dont like the exhaust switch it up. Seems pretty easy to me

What exactly is it? I know Bm3 tunes but what does the "license" do? Just allows you to plug in your laptop and program the exhaust ?

It allows for horsepower upgrades, but also has a "burble" feature that makes the exhaust sound more aggressive.

I was hellbent on upgrading my exhaust, however after cooling my jets I decided on an AA midpipe (comp pack stock DPs and mufflers). I think it makes the stock setup sound just right.

Is an exhaust upgrade needed for a bone stock CP car? Absolutely not!
But if you're looking for more sound, then an aftermarket midpipe (Borla or AA) will do. If you're looking for a power adder to go with a Stage II tune, then go with aftermarket downpipes (VRSF) + midpipes (Borla or AA) along with the stock rear section, and maybe with aftermarket exhaust tips (BMS, Cyba or eBay). There's no need to spend a fortune on an exhaust unless you're simply looking to do it for the bling and bragging rights. I personally went with a fully kittyless setup for racing purposes: optimal exhaust flow and weight reduction. |

I am really exited about the MPE and will hopefully do not regret the switch from CP to MPE. On the other side the CP exhaust is a standard exhaust from BMW and only the software was adjusted to get out more pop and bangs.

If you love the inherit civic exhaust note of the M3/4 but you want it even louder and more obnoxious then get an exhaust.
If you don't then DO NOT change the exhaust besides adding a midpipe or what I did by removing the secondary cats which will make the stock CP exhaust just a tad louder but deeper at the same time. I love my car but the biggest shortcoming is the way it sounds. Loud rattly pops and bangs isn't my thing but most here seems to dig it.
