Vargas B58 Coil Conversion

Just installed the B58 coils last night with the VTT kit and Turner MS coils...

The fitment was NOT what I had hoped for. S55 coils fit really nicely, and the VTT boots provided did not make a seal like the S55 coil packs (that nice "pop" sound when you pull them out, so satisfying).

Working under the assumption that all B58 coils are the same physically, Im ruling the actual coil out as the problem. I believe the boots are not long enough, nor do they create a seal like OEM S55 coils.

I was almost 100% sure the car wouldn't even start, but it did...albeit its running rough. Im reaching out to my tuner to see if a little adjustment will fix everything (pls let that just be it).

Anyone else running B58 coils and having a similar experience? Did it get fixed? How? Or, what did i do wrong lol

I also have the nxs kit but waiting on more info. Bm3 told me tune was not needed and dwell time isn't that far off but I decided to hold off for a while.

nxs kit with S58 Dinan coils on mine, no issues. Think I did this last summer.

It is a pain taking all that back apart. Have you reached out to VTT?

Doesn't your tune have to be adjusted if you want to run B58's? I know BM3 just added that as a checkbox recently.

Not necessarily, but it definitely will help. Have F80 Paul working on it rn.

Regardless the installation wasn’t “clean” so to speak. The boots just wouldn’t sit right, seemed like they were maybe a 1/2 cm too short. Also the s55 boots really fit nicely and make a good seal, that little pop when they come off. These boots just slid in and out

They did? So can I just go in and re-upload my tune and check the box? Will this change dwell time ?

I installed mine tonight along with new spark plugs. I felt the same way that the coil wasn’t making full contact with the plugs. Put things mostly back together and did a test start…unfortunately it was running rough and threw a bunch of misfires. Re-checked everything and it seemed fine. I decided to throw my S55 Eldor coils back in and it started up no problem. Nexsys kit

Really glad I’m not the only one. Thank you.

I don't know the details, just that I saw it as the update notes on the last bm3 update.

Since there’s literally no information about this coil swap anywhere, do you need to change the spark plugs to “b58 sparks” on the s55? To my understanding, the answer is no…but idk

That's a good question. I starting to think that this mod really isn't worth it

Well I did install new sparks, the 94201 B58 ones gapped to 0.020 and look at my logs…

Anyone that has done this: DO YOU NEED TO TUNE FOR THE COILS AND SPARKS?

I’ve read multiple different posts of people saying yes, and others saying no. I would think YES, but again, can’t find support for this literally anywhere.

Even worse, Vargas customer service is absolutely shit and they either don’t reply, or when they do they’re all high and mighty about it.

I tried with Flex F8S plugs since I run E85. Car was NOT happy and barely ran.
