More pics that Justin at Auto Talent took. The better quality photos really highlight how dirty my car was. Hahaha.

Those wheels look beautiful. Def thinking about getting a set but I was just wondering why are people getting 19 up front and 20s in the rear? Is there a reason for this?

For funzies.

Seriously though, my reasoning is a bit convoluted but I'll attempt to explain. I used to have a 2012 F30 335i. A year into ownership I decided to try the 19" front 20" rear set up. I wanted to try this because no one I knew had done this and I always thought that the rear part of the car looked more "bloated" than the sleek front part (not the case with the 4 series/M4). So I always thought that a bigger rear wheel would balance out the look a bit more. Except I made a mistake; I tried to match the overall diameter of the tires. This lead to a very fat front tire and a super thin rear tire. The visual didn't turn out the way I expected. So that was my experiment; it didn't work out. I moved on to getting 20" all around and also regretted it for different reasons.

Then I got the F80 and stuck with 19" all around, vowing never to go 20" all around. I think 19" looks better on the F80 vs F30 because of the flared fenders. But the "bloaty" rear still visually over powered the rear 19" wheel. However, I didn't want to go 20" all around, so I stayed happy with the 19".

THEN the Corvette Z06, 911 GT3 RS, and M4 GTS happened. The set up started to intrigue me again. And I'm kind of adventurous so I decided to give it a go one more time; with a better tire set up of course.

I kind of like to go my own way when it comes to mods (ie: chrome grilles). And as far as I know, nobody has done this set up on an F80 yet. So, like my F30, 1 year into ownership, I thought I'd be the first to try it again on the F80. So I was the first for the F30 and the first for the F80... Maybe the last as this set up doesn't cater to everyone's taste.

But honestly, I just secretly want a 67 Mustang Fastback.

PM sent.

Track guys demanded even lighter version of the SV101, so here you have it. We found areas in the old design that materials can be removed from without sacrificing structural integrity. The design process required hours of 3-D stress testing and it's now officially VIA/JWL certified. I'm taking orders today.

Thanks for the explanation. So it was mainly for aesthetic reasons? I was wondering more performance wise. I love the way they look in 20" but I'm curious about how it'll handle/grip compared to 19s. Also I was just on tirerack and i dont really see options for good summer tires for 20s. Must be a reason for that right? The thin sidewall makes me paranoid lol

How are the driving dynamics of the car after going to the double stagger. Any clear advantages or disadvantages?

You are correct; there are just a few options for 20" in that size. But I think that'll change soon. When the GTR came out, some tire manufactures came out with high performance tires in 20". Today, a lot more popular sports cars come equipped with 20" wheels. I think it's only a matter of time before more sizes become available in 20". RE11's didn't come in 20", but their new RE71R's do. R888 was very limited in their 20" range, but the new R888R already has more sizes available. PSS already has a bunch of sizes, as do the Sport Cup 2. I'm almost positive that Yoko and the other brands will follow suit this year.

I did some suspension changes a week ago. That definitely changed the driving dynamics. The rear tires going from RE11 to RE71R also made a difference. But in terms of the wheel size stagger, I can't tell if there are clear advantages/disadvantages.

i read that you had 295/30/20 on the rear but what did you decide to go with in the front? I'm really loving your setup so im just trying to get some ideas haha

Using my previous RE11 at 265/35/19. I'll most likely stick to that same size when I change it to an RE71R, but I might go 255/35/19 if the RE71R turns out to be a bit wider.

I finally washed the car. It's forecast to rain again. But the car was looking pretty haggard, so I decided to wash it. Tire dressing adds some contrast and really makes the wheels pop.

Looks fantastic. Are you worried about space or rubbing up front is that why you wanna stick with same width? Im trying to keep the same difference in tire width stagger from stock. I think I remember reading you had some extra camber in the rear. I dnt wanna increase wear with camber so I have to figure out what works best with stock specs.

I'm not too worried about rubbing up front. I just don't want to go any "bigger" on the front tire for visual reasons. The side wall of the rear is slightly smaller than the front now. I don't mind it, but I don't want to exaggerate it. If it turns out that the RE71R runs slightly wider than the RE11, I'll consider going to a 255.

Again, I don't actually know if the RE71R runs wider. Later on, I'll do an unscientific measurement to check the width difference between my 305 RE11 and the 295 RE71R. Right now, it looks like they're about the same width on 11" wide wheels.

I have gone both ways on this platform as far as with stagger of the tires. Honestly I didnt notice much difference at all. I've always personally been a fan of 275/295/30 combo on 19s tho.

Signature SV304S

Here's our SV304S in matte black face, gloss black barrel, and black hardware. 20x9 front and 20x12, not very concave due to Lambo Huracan's shallow offset.
