Hmmm, lighter means less thermal mass. It's going to be interesting to see how they hold up and how they will impact pad life and fade resistance.

I'm not sure it's that simple - from what I can tell, they are removing mass from the hat which even on the stock rotors doesn't provide much if any "thermal mass" (those pins wouldn't transfer any significant amount of heat to the hat) however they are increasing the thickness of the rotor and adding vanes, so I think the net result is a rotor+hat that weighs less than stock but has increased thermal mass and durability.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same approach that the AP/Essex kit takes? I think most of the weight savings vs stock is from the caliper, but I thought the rotor+hat was also slightly lighter than stock.
