Hi all,
I read on here recently a post that had an attachment document for track settings. It was two pages. I now can't find it. I did find a small table in pic for suspension settings for the Ring and basic race track but not the info for the the wing and it is very brief. If anyone could point me to that or post it here. I'm going next weekend and would like to set the car up correctly.
(FYI the manual is in the glove box at the wrap shop until Thu, so can't access it).
Thanks in advance.

Nope. I have that. It had some more text.
I think I need to read the manual when I get my car back next week (when all else fails...)

Just wanted to confirm, when BMW states X clicks open in their literature, can you confirm:
1) they are starting from maximum stiffness in the shocks (- all the way to full +)
2) that they mean turning the knob setting from + to -, essentially going from full stiff to soft in X click increments?

Correct. So for example, in track setting -- low speed compression on the rear axle is one click "softer" (-) than full +.

anyone comment on why the TRACK settings (rebound and high speed comp) above don't match the supplementary owner's book pdf that was posted? .

Which one is the correct one?

Weird, didn't notice the inconsistency. Use the official pdf recommendations. Not sure where the other image came from.

I typically am at www.area27.ca as we are members. Very technical track. High speed, low speed and rebound are very track/driver specific. The factory recommendation is a good neutral, but this is why the GTS is special. It's very analogue and changes drastically to proper chassis tuning.

They are not hugely different. Possibly because the pdf version also recommends using specific aero settings for the racetrack, ie front splitter and rear wing. The first table values are in isolation, so not sure what aero settings were recommended for this?

Changing aero settings would likely change the required shock settings

Right, of course. I haven't deviated from factory track yet, so I'm looking for any leads -- which direction you've gone on the dampers, any specific changes you've found beneficial.

thanks

Biggest changes for me was really slowing down rebound and stiffening low speed comp(my high speed comp is set softer than track setting). At track setting it would unload too quickly over crests and g outs on our track. This track has fast but smooth transitions, not choppy or sharp transitions. I would advise you to throw your key to the club pro and get their input on setup.

Thanks. So you must be full + on low speed, ~8 open on rebound?

Keep in mind the "Track Settings" are based on BMW's baseline for the Nurburgring. All tracks are going to require a different setup in order to optimize the cars potential. Other variables include driver weight and driving style, aero, weather, track temperature, track surface type, tires etc.

I would suggest having the car corner weighted with the driver first and then making your adjustments from that point. Make them one at a time and note the difference in feel and lap time keeping all other variables as constant as possible. That's the best and only way to achieve a proper setup.

That is why race teams do so much testing.
