Default to top-down cameras on reverse

This functionality was lost sometime in 2016 models, I'd wager the only way to restore this feature would be to downgrade your i-step level. When I updated my 2014 MY car I purposely used the latest 2015 version of the psdzfull data as I wanted to retain this functionality, along with the 5 blink turn signal.

Assuming that more time is available (probably) for the people capable of coming up with a workaround/fix for this issue... I’d like to bump this thread in the hopes of a possible solution!

My 2018 F82 used to perfectly retain my 360 camera preference when going in to reverse.

Last month, while troubleshooting a different issue the dealer updated iDrive to the latest W firmware and now this feature is gone. I am not sure which firmware I was on before (maybe P?).

Here's hoping someone finds a workaround or BMW reverts this change which I evidently perceive as a bug not a feature.

Even better would be a split screen option with both the backup cam AND the top view cam activated when the car was put into reverse (maybe with backup cam on left, top view cam on right). This would be the ultimate. Anyone have any idea how to do this? Surely it's possible.

Looked at some more F8X through friends and also asked the product genius to compare cars in service bay, it appears the first software version that changed this goes way back (~ Late 2017 or Early 2018) Some of us were simply lucky to not have an update since.

At this point I know for sure that firmware versions NBTevo_O through NBTevo_W are affected by this "bug".

Are downgrades a thing for this? Is there someone we can pay to downgrade to the N firmware?

I'll throw in another $100 into the aforementioned bounty pile (totaling $400 now) for anyone who can solve this without needing a firmware change.

Downgrade are of course possible and N version is the last that support Fullscreen CarPlay as well.
If anyone needs it we can assist.

That's great to know. Thank you for your reply, so glad I reached out to you. I'm happy to be the guinea pig and try this out.

Let me just see if I can make sure N is the right version we need here. The carplay comment makes me wonder if N is not the right one because when I was checking with you last year, you checked my vin and said my car's firmware doesn't support fullscreen Carplay and needs an update first.

So N is not the right firmware here. I'll need to find some working examples of J or K to figure out which firmware I need.

Also, it seems like downgrade comes with a greater risk I should check if I can get someone local to attempt this in case it is bricked and needs the bench.
