Also, to anyone who had to buy a new battery because your old battery got drained apparently you didn't try the reconditioning process with the CTEK Lithium US battery charger. It is possible to jump the battery to get the car started but then you need to drive the car for at least an hour to get the battery charged enough. For more info, here's two additional posts from my thread. The first one has some information from the F80/F82 Complete Vehicle Technical Training/Production Information document: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=26 This one has the text from the CTEK user manual that explains how to bypass the under voltage protection (UVP) on the LiFePo battery: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...3&postcount=29

Seriously, they are LithiumIon. They do this for safety incase of accidents, and weight saving. But that is pain in the rear to deal with. These battery is supposed to last from 7-10 years. They have their own protection build in and pretty advanced (check ISTA for more info) so I dont know how we have bad batteries from cars that only few years old. |

Just a WAG on my part but I think the high cost is related to the fact they're not readily available now or are scarce and hard to get. also I was told it could even be up to 3 weeks. I did get a loaner 330i for no cost, lol........

So the 69AH battery is obviously less than the 92AH AGM batteries in the F30s. As a result of the lower AH (Amp Hours), your Dashcam/Radar Detector/Alarm System etc will discharge your battery a lot faster than a AGM or lead battery. I looked at putting a lithium ion in my F30, but decided against spending 6x more than an AGM that has less AH that would kill the battery much faster. Lithium Iron Phosphate is simply a form of a Lithium Ion battery. Call it what you like, but RealOEM and virtually every BMW Dealership as well as BMW Parts Supplier lists BMW Part Number 61218047221 as a 69AH Lithium Ion Battery in their Database. |

First of all hope, OP got the battery issues fixed by now.
As I was going through this thread, wanted to get some direction to ensure that I don't mess up anything in my new 2020 F83 vert. I am planning to mount a V1 G2 radar detector using mirror tapping wire from Belmount. Should I be concerned? Can it drain the battery if the car sits for a long time? I see a lot of people using the MT wiring to power their gadgets but I'm sure it makes a difference if it is a daily driver vs a weekend toy. Appreciate any help! I am very new to BMW world.
