Winter wheels and tyres on M4
Does anyone run full winter tyres on a spare set of winter wheels on their M4? I was just thinking about having a set to bolt on for the next couple months. Anyone got prices or know of any good deals?

Bought a separate square setup used Bc the stock tires suck in the cold. Downside to 18 inch wheels on 255s all around. Defly worth the money. Tire rack has some good price wheels and tire packages that include bbs wheels

I’ve got 2 sets of 437M’s one with MPSS for summer and Mich Alpin winters on the other set. For a used set of very good 437’s with winters on with minimal wear I would say your looking at £1500 ish. I bought mint 437’s with brand new Mich Alpin winters on the rear for £950 and then another £400 for front tyres.
Just look out for a decent set of used M4 alloys which will be about a grand, winter tyres will be £800-1000 depending on what make you go for. Definitely worth buying as you will be able to sell on when your done with them plus you will have less wear on your summer tyres. |

Yes, I too bought a set of 437s and fitted Michelin PA4 winter tyres. Similarly, paid £800ish for a newly refurbed set of wheels, then bought new tyres.
In the mild weather the tyres are ok, not quite the precision or grip of a summer tyre, but once it gets down to zero and below the winter tyres are immense.

As Tengo says - not too bad - I run my 18" winter tyres at full laden psi settings when there's no snow/ice and then tweak psi downwards if weather turns to sh!te.
I went out recently on an early morning cross country blast Surrey/Sussex with 2 other M2 owners [both on 19" oem MPSS] and they thought my 18"'s had summer rubber fitted. They were struggling to keep up and yet my m2 N55 is standard and one had a JB4 and the other BM3.... PFA - OE staggered 640m refurb'd orbit grey c/w 235/40/18 MPA4 all round on MPerf suspension BP

I had to get to Heathrow this morning for a 6.15 flight, coming from Oxfordshire... interesting conditions for sure! Able to pass lorries despite fairly snowy outside lanes, and no hairy moments.

Yes I put a set of 18 inch 640m on my M4 CP best decision I ever made Not the prettiest look but late nights on M54 in cold heavy rain mid winter I’m super happy I got them from BMW direct new set so also get the storage of the 666 summer set over the winter included |

Great in the wet. They just provide much more grip in the colder months, get the power down without spinning up all the time like the MPSS do when very cold. The car isn’t as pointy/ turn in etc when on winters but not a massive difference.
I’ve only kept with the standard size wheels as I have the ceramic brakes so 18’s won’t fit over my brakes. |

I recently bought a M4 competition pack 2018 and have been looking at different options for winter tyres. I'm thinking of getting a set of 19" DRC alloys and fitting 255/35/19 Michelin PA4's in a straight set up.
