This thread is hilarious.
Gotta admit though my i3 feels much faster around town but it's the torque delivery and lack of drama that makes it seem easier to go WOT on my i3 vs feathering the throttle on my M3 CS that also makes a lot of noise and attracts unwanted attention. I'm flooring it from the stoplight in my i3, if I did that in the M3 CS it would light the tires up. It's as simple as that. Faster more powerful cars need to be reigned in on the street so you don't come off as an ass. So it seems like you can go faster in other cars.

All a matter of design philosophy. If a car that is capable of reaching 180mph in 28 sec feels like it's about to fall apart traveling at high speed, would you feel confident to push the car?
Slower BMWs like 330i will always be made to feel faster than it really is.

It's what you like and budget. To access the performance you pay for in an M3 etc you need to be on a track. |

There are enough twisties around my block that I have plenty of fun driving at sub-highway speeds because I keep the average speed right at the speed limit. Fun is accessible as long as drivers are up to the task. Not so much the case with an understeer disaster of Toyota/Honda.

I love this thread - thank you all
I recently had a 228 loaner and I can confirm that whatever zippiness it has is completely cancelled out by the floatiness (felt like I was on a boat in choppy waters), the eternity between gear shifts, and the lawnmower engine... not a single strand of sports car in its entire DNA. It was a with a great sigh of relief that I went back behind the wheel of my M4... please keep these posts coming : ) |
