2015 6spd F80. 48,300 miles. Bone stock. No options except full leather.

Vroom is offering $43,600 for it.

My next M car will be the 2023 M2, but that won't be orderable until this time next year.

I live in Ohio, so pretty soon my M3 will be parked for the winter. If I sell now, I'm really only missing out on next spring/summer of driving an M car until I'm able to order and have delivered a 2023 M2.

Does the cash price of $43,600 seem like a good deal that I should take advantage of right now or should I wait until next year and try to trade it in? I feel like next year with 50k miles on it and as a trade in, I'll only be offered like $35K. Not sure what wholesale purchase market from Vroom/Carvana/Carmax will be like then though… still high or will bubble burst?

I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

That sounds pretty decent, I paid that for my 2015 with a few thousand more miles a couple months ago from a BMW dealer. The sale also included a lifetime powertrain warranty. I'd try some other places of course first, but I think it's pretty fair.

I meant, to be offered over 40k for a 2015 is a situation that will not last long! I'd sell it fast.

Once prices normalize that car is worth under 30k

I'm in the process of selling them a truck right now, like just signed the edocs this a.m.

They were also my best offer by some margin.

However, their buy offer dropped almost 7% since early August. I didn't move on it then because wifey perceived an imaginary need for truck, so that was $3k worth of garaging...

Anyways, that's a good offer for your '15 and the overall market is softening. If you're inclined to sell, I'd jump on it.

2nd data point -- sold another car to a dealer 2 months ago. They're now asking $1.5k less than they paid me.

Vroom stock bouncing off 52 wk low right now, for consideration.

I have both sold and bought from Vroom. My experience has been very positive. They have been consistently higher than Carvana on vehicles that I have gotten quotes on also, but elected not to sell. A pattern of lowballing has not been my experience.

I've also sold a car to Vroom and had a pleasant experience. I might do it again and with my F80.

Got offers from Carvana, Shift, TrueCar and ALgo. Vroom beat the second highest offer by almost 3k. Carmax, I don't bother. Tried in the past, waste of time (have to go in person) and always a low ball.

So, if you bought new the sticker was what, $65k ish in 2015. With tax it was probably close to 70k. That means after 6 years it was $350 a month for the car? I mean I'm sure you could round up a whole bunch of people that just got done paying that on 6 year note for a much lesser car. Can't believe these prices.

Yea good point.

I actually bought it back in April from a BMW dealer for $39,990 + 7% tax and $1,200 in misc fees. Then put about $1,300 into maintenance, repairs, and rear tires.

So all in, I'm into it for $45,300.

Only put about 2,000 miles on it driving it weekends since April. $1,700 cost to own / 6mos = $283 a month.

:-)

Had in known I was going to turn around and sell it so quick, I would have not done the maintenance and tires so I'd be pretty darn close to break even.

Car does have some AC issues and the turbos rattle a little at certain RPM so that's why I'm keen to take this deal from Vroom and just move on. Setting my sights on ordering a new 2023 M2

I'm in the same boat about selling. 2016 M3, every option except DCT, Sunroof and leather. 30k miles and in perfect shape. $83k msrp. Vroom offered $50k, Carvana $46k
