I just picked up a set of Apex fl-5 18x11 and 305/35/18 MT ET SS. Haven't mounted them yet. How do you like them? Sounds like you are looking for more grip still?

I dont think a 17" will fit over the rear brakes, but I could be wrong!

They're nice. Actually have a brand new pair of the tires sitting in the garage. I'm losing traction at the top of 2nd on the street but I'm around 700whp. I felt like I read someone got a 17 to fit over the stock brakes. I'm going to a legit 1/4 mile track Saturday so well see what it allows me. Trying to 60ft with the gtrs lol

Any issues with snapping axles? I am considering getting the DSS axles but not sure if they are needed.

Have driven them in rain and they are fine as long as you take it slow. Wouldn't want to hit standing water at high speeds for sure. heh

The traction is so worth the compromise if you've added hp. Car really sticks under heavy load.
Would the 325/35/18s fit do you think or is 305 the limit?
Thanks heaps for this post btw, helps a lot!

Love this thread. I've got the Apex EC7 18x10s. Should I try the 305s that you got from Mickey Thompson, or should I try the next smaller size which is 285/40/18? I'm fully stock in terms of engine, suspension, etc.

I'd run the SS in 305/35R18. It will be a little wide on a 10" wheel but will fit, it's meant for a 11" wheel. Outside diameter is 26.6" which is good.

The SS in 275/45R18 is the next size down, but it's meant for a 9" wheel and would be stretched on a 10" wheel. Outside diameter is 27.8" which is too big for your fronts. You would have DSC Off for launching so TC doesn't intervene, but having stretched tires with low tire PSI is dangerous because they could come loose from the beads.

Thank you very much. I'll order those 305s.

Agree on the 305s.

Is there a reason to have these tires on the front as well? I was thinking to just do them on the back where it counts.

No one puts these on the fronts. I run stock 666m wheels a super sports on the front. Also my new theory would be to get a tire with a bigger diameter. Stock is 26.8in and the 305/35/18 mt et ss is 26.6in but mine aired down to how i race measure 25.75in. I believe we should run a tire that once aired down gives us around stock size.
