My user ID for the business is new, but I'm a longtime lurker/member as well on here. Like most of you on the forums, I do a ton of research on every car I purchase and value real feedback from real owners.

In a very short time, I've built up a network of 15 BMW dealers, and I do the lion's share of all BMW deals on a popular leasing forum website. I myself sell 50+ BMWs per month, and I've learned a lot about what works and what doesn't work.

There is a lot of misinformation on this forum that is either anecdotal or a true unicorn deal when all the stars lined up on one particular car buying day.

I hope to clear the air and pull back the curtain on some of the shady ways car dealers try to make money off unsuspecting buyers.

To start:

----5-6% is invoice for BMWs depending on where you live. Dealers do not lose money if they sell you a car under invoice.

----12% is triple-net-zero for dealers just to move a unit. They are losing money on your deal with the hopes of hitting a BMW bonus tier. For some high volume dealers, they must sell over 200 cars that month to get a $500- $1000 bonus on every car sold that month.

-----Flagship money is a hidden incentive to move certain models. It's specific to the production date of the car sometimes. For example, an 2020 M8 built in 2019 has $10,000 flagship compared to a $2000 for a 2020 M8 built in 2020!
Be sure to ask the forum or dealer if there is any flagship money you should be aware of!

For non-M cars, your goal should be 12% off before incentives/rebates AND a base money factor.

Dealers can easily make the discount look better if they mark up the money factor.

ASK AWAY! I'll do my absolute best not to self-promote and keep it educational and fun!
Hi Dan,

Thanks for the info, this is great and very useful!

Is there a flagship for 2020 m550i models at this time?
The 2021s are coming in July, I was wondering if I could snatch a good deal on 2020s.
How low do you think they could go from MSRP $85k on a fairy loaded model?

no there has never been flagship for the M550s because it's a hot seller and it's not a "flagship" model like the 7 and 8

There aren't a lot of M550s left right now, and the dealers who have them are not interested in giving them away because of tight supply.

You are better off ordering a new M550 LCI IMO

The program isn't out yet, but it should be similar to the 2020 program

Hi Dan,

Do you think 13% off a 2020 M4 Comp with a price of $90,735 is a good deal?

Thanks Dan! If I go with ordering an 2021 M550i (with customized packages and options), how much discount can I possibly get over MSRP?
When I talked to one of the dealers, they said that generally they don't go lower than MSRP and not give incentives for ordered cars.

BTW, I live in WA, but open to picking up my car from other states. If you or someone you know can help me to get a good deal, I'd be happy to work with you.

Sounds amazing, but what is the MF? Is this including all rebates at $90,735 or before rebates?

ok, but what's the selling price before rebates, add-ons? Maybe take this offline as it only pertains to your deal?

Any thoughts on a M-Sport X5 in the current environment? Seems like the standard is around 8% discount off MSRP

Customers walking in will get that price.

I have them closer to 10-12% for the MSport which is short supply right now

Excellent!

So, then - how does one search those 20 to let you know the specific example to pursue?

ie: do you list your dealers and we search their sites? Or...

Not sure if I understand the question. BMW charges the dealer what?

Maybe this helps... BMWFS owns the car not the dealer. So if you buy the car at the end of your lease below the already inflated residual, BMWFS takes the hit, not the dealer.

You should definitely pay less than the buy out regardless.
I bought you can't negotiate the price on a lease buyout anymore? Whatever price is listed on the BMW lease website is what you have to pay?

It depends...I've heard of buyouts a few thousand less than the residual value because bmw doesn't want the car back.

YMMV

I don't disclose the dealers I work with even though they won't honor the price unless you are my customer.

Send me the color/build you want, and I'll go look for it. Easy!

If one wants to get a car through you, how would they do it?

Do you have any insight as to whether BMW FS rates for new and CPO vehicles will change for July, or do they wait until 7/1 to announce?
