In the market for 2018 F80

Hey all,

Thinking about cashing in on the hot market for my 2021 Civic Type R and upgrading to an F80 if I can find the right deal. I know I'm kind of cashing in high, but also purchasing high, but I think have found a decent deal and was wondering what you all think.

I did find a loaded CPO 2018 MW with pretty much everything except ZCP (which I really wanted, but it's not required) and CCBs. Only 35xx miles and CPO goes until late 2023. List price is $68,000 and I'm hoping I can get another 2k off ($500 BMW loyalty, bought a new M2 CS last year, $1000 Grad, and $500 BMW CCA).

Working out the details with the dealer now, but what do you all think?

I picked up a 2018 ZCP 19k miles CPO with everything but CCBs for around roughly ~69k. You might be able to find a bit better.

It sounds like you have more than 1 car. Why not just sell your 2021 Civic Type R and wait 6 months for a better price on a used car?

A list price of $68,000 is almost the MSRP on a brand new G80. Granted I don't like the looks of the G80 and hope that it's fixed with an LCI, I won't pay the same price for a used car when there's a new car that is functionally better at the same price.

I do have 1 other car, but it's my track car and it'll be down for some work over the winter.

I did explore the G80 route and I actually grew to like it more than I thought I would after spec'ing one out, but in the end I was going to end up spending a lot more if I went that route and I do like the F80 more.

I did end up buying the one I was looking at. I was able to get the price down some and with the profit from the Civic, I saw it as purchasing this car in the mid-50s. Even without the civic profits, I think the price was pretty good considering the mileage and condition of the car (it looks brand new inside and out).

Don't sweat the price paid, if it's a clean example and what you wanted, then you did well. I recently acquired my 18 ZCP with everything except CCB and 13k miles for $69k. This is the new norm. You're a Honda guy, you understand. The prices aren't coming back down like people seem to think. This is called the collector car market. There's models that are just exempt from the craze right now and rising due to other reasons. Look at the Integra Type R for instance. As new models come out, and some age gets behind the the previous more attracting and riveting models, they rise in value. The G80 is cool and all but it's no F80.

Hey man, do you mind if I pick your brain regarding your recent purchase at Carmax? I will probably go that route and get the extended warranty through Carmax.

Just posted in another thread... I sold my 2018 M3 about two months ago. I bough it new from Fairfax BMW. It's in excellent condition and spent most of the time in my garage. I did a KBB instant offer and this dealership bought it right up from me. I think it's still for sale on their lot now.

Crazy market right now lol. My negotiated price for my car new in 2019 was 68,800 plus Tax/Title.

Hey man, I just saw your post and in the Carfax your car doesnt show any maintenance done. Did you maintain it at a regular BMW dealer or you did maintenance on your own. I'm asking because the car I'm looking for doesn't have any records either.
