I had a few people try and it was honestly very tight and secure and didn't want to budge. We were all afraid it'd snap forward with the coiled tension so didn't play with it more.

This is quite literally the easiest and fastest modification I've ever made on a car with the most immediate and obvious improvement. It's just a coil spring hooked into a slot. The only thing holding it in place is the spring tension. Have you ever done any mechanical work on a car at all?

My trunk lid doesn't open completely either (has a factory/dealer installed flow-through spoiler on it increasing mass) and the springs are already maxed out position wise.
Has anybody tried replacing the springs with new ones? Did it help? I'm suspecting that they have been worn out so that they cannot "carry" the increased weight anymore. (The car has though only 10 000 kms on it so this would be a bit strange...) New factory springs or a stiffer pair of springs from somewhere else are the most obvious solutions to me. Perhaps mine are just flawed. Will probably try to have them replaced through warranty in any case and report back... |

So my 4CS has always had this issue, it’ll maybe pop fully open 1 time in 10, totally at random. Checked the springs with the help of the video above and they both appear to be on position 3, so not able to be any tighter.

Hey all,
Been reading all the answers but it seems all these did not helped me. I have an issue when I try to open trunk with ether key or switch. It launches trunk and swings like crazy back and forth until eventually stops being open, instead of opening slowly without hitting top. I tried adjusting spings to all 3 positions but it does not help. Any other advice how to fix this? Thanks! |

I've had the issue where I added a CF spoiler and the boot/trunk wouldn't pop open all the way even with the spring settings in position #3 on both sides. There's an easy fix that worked for me, simply to slot the spring into the lower section of that area and make your own position #4.
Ignore the extra hole, I was experimenting with drilling a new hole that didn't work. All you need to do is slot the spring into this lower section. I only had to do it on the left side, but you could do it on the right side as well if you need even more spring tension. I hope this helps someone. https://photos.app.goo.gl/4fhrgstsVvQMrCFF7 |
