Is this a common rattling noise?

I am getting a rattle from what sounds like the passenger window or door panel or some where over there on the passenger side. Is there a common rattle I can track down. It happens with windowup or down. I’ve tried tapping around. I can’t seem to replicate it. Any pointers. It’s driving me crazy.

My f80 has been good, but my f30 had rattles/creaks.

Clean the door jams out. Check the plastic trim piece on the side of the seat (between the seat and the door), sometimes it gets loose and rattles. Check the side skirt and see if they rattle or have a loose bolt.

If its none of those then its probably a door clip / fastener.

The outer black trim that runs along the bottom of the window rattles a bit on mine. If I push on it I hear a creaking sound.

i am going to coat the seals with gummi pflege. but i really am not optimistic. While the location sounds very right the actual noise doesn't sound like a creaking noise that you would expect from seals. its a rattle.

I will follow up in a few days. Although snow is coming so we will see.

My F30 had a front passenger door rattle. Dealership found that it was the locking pin slightly loose, moving against the door. They put some double sided tape on it and I never had the issue again up until I sold her.

I still miss my little 3er

This sounds like something it could be. Where is this locking pin? In the door panel??

Inside the panel yes, behind the door handle. They would need to remove it to see.

Same here, rattles somewhere around cup holder area. F80 hard suspension and crappy roads everywhere in CA produce tons of clanks and rattles.

Teflon tape around the doors frame that would solve the rattle.

I have my run in service (1200 miles) tomorrow. Part of me wants to have the dealership take a look, but the other part of me is nervous what rattles they might create trying to fix this one. lol

Exactly. I would leave it alone. I just hear it between 2000 and 3000 rpm. Not a big deal for me.

Check the lock pin. This is common in BMWs. An easy fix is some felt.

+1
Majority of my noticeable rattle is from the driver side lock pin.

I am very soon.

Its crzy bc if i sit in passenger seat i cant replicate it while car is stationary. there is also a bang noise in the window when i hit bumps. Very odd noise actually.

I wonder if the door is mis aligned. Doubt it.
