Forgot, congrats on the 24hr Le Mans seat. I had a feeling they would give you a shot. What a dream to drive at Le Mans and in a Ford GT for their 50th anniversary.

Really? Alcantara headliner/steering wheel/shift boot/ebrake boot, 5 spoke wheels from a pilot?

Castrol SRF Brake Fluid
Pagid RS29 Brake Pads
ER Catless Downpipes (no tune)

Here's a video of two 2:02 back to back laps with the second one being a bit quicker. I really need to figure out a good way to mount the go pro in the car.

I'm getting more comfortable at speed and think I will get close to 2 minutes in the next couple of events. I left a lot of time on the table. Billj747 any tips would be greatly appreciated, lol.

It was great meeting @M3 Number 86 and Cajun1 today. Trying to work my way up to Number86's level in terms of saves so here is a baby step..

I came back for this thread for an update:

Car: 2015 F80 M3 DCT
Track: Beijing GoldenPort Track
Best Lap Time: 1:17.367 (track lap timer)
Tires:Yoko AD08R 50% thread left
Brakes:Race Technologies RE10 pads front and rear, Hel brakelines, Motul RBF600 brake fluid
Other relevant mods: TCKline Racing D/A coilovers, Fall-line chasis parts(monoball conversion, front and rear swaybar enlinks, rear upper control arm bushings, rear toe links), H&R swaybars front and rear, Eisenmann downpipe, AWE-tuning resonated catback.

I was in the process of tuning the new tckr suspension and it was heavy traffic at the track as well. Could not shave more due to tire temp and traffic. I will go back with new alignment in a week or so.

Nice meeting you there the new platforms are great. I came around after my last session to give you a ride along but you weren't there. Turns out I couldn't have because I got a flat! A hole in the tire. Didn't know race tracks had nails lol. I think the GoPro mount is fine just put it lower. My upcoming video has the same location but lower so you can see hands and the tire action.

Here's my video. Couldn't get better than a 2:00.3 that day due to traffic and/or overshooting ending up in unintentional drifts. I could have gotten a 1:58 a couple times.

Of course, I'll probably be back out at Buttonwillow April 9th/10th with Speed Ventures. Not sure if I'll do both days or just one yet...

Impressive video! There are some awesome slides in there, drifting the esses looks pretty fun haha.
I feel you on the nails. I had gotten a nail in one of my RS3s a couple days before coming out to Buttonwillow on Sat and it definitely worried me to drive on my NT01s all the way there. I was so worried that I got the tire patched and brought the entire set of all 4 RS3s with me to the track!
I also was experiencing traffic all day. For a speed district event there were a lot of slower cars than normal. I ended up moving up to the advanced group and was able to set a best lap on almost every lap without traffic. I should have kept driving but I had to head back to OC, next time...

What mods do you have on your car?

Awesome! Hopefully I'll be able to make it out for both days as well. How are Speed Ventures events at Buttonwillow compared to Speed District's? Looking at the list of cars signed up I think there will be almost 2x the # of attendees compared to Speed District's events. This is a little worrying!

Yes, it can get pretty crowded, but they run many run groups, and you only get 4 scheduled sessions per day, with a 5th bonus session towards the end of the day. You do not get the same amount of run time as you do with Speed District.

The first session you run that day, you should concentrate on setting as good of a "qualifying" lap if you will as you can. For the 2nd session, they will pregrid you on the results of the first, and then for the 3rd session, pregrid you on the results of the 2nd, etc. It usually works pretty well, but it does mean you need to show up for pre-gridding 10 min for your session start so they can organize all the cars in terms of run time.

I have never had a problem in the advanced groups - even if I had to fight my way up past slower cars, it works out pretty well - people have good situational awareness. Just get to pre-grid early. When I ran in the intermediate groups, I was usually fast enough to get into the front of the run group.

They do mandatory download meetings after the first and second sessions, this is where people dime each other out for not following the rules or being unsafe, but it usually keeps people in line.

I thought I would have open lapping and that's why I signed up for the speed district event. Maybe it was bad luck and timing for me but I thought it was horrible. 15 minute sessions and way too many newbies in "advanced" group. I barely had any clean laps.

That 15 minutes sucks when the first couple minutes in trying to warm up then the next couple laps fighting to get a clean lap then when I finally do its checkered flag! Lol

Speed ventures will grid you so even though there are a lot of cars you have plenty of space. The advanced groups are also a lot faster.

You just signed up on the wrong day, lol. GTA messes up the normal schedule of events. You also have to show up as early as you can so you don't get stuck behind slow dudes.
