It's really the price that had me interested.

The two in Edmonton will sit a little longer I think. They have ceramic brakes, one is LRG, the other is frozen blue. AB is going through a recession so I think the price of those needs to come down a little further.

I originally wanted the LRG, but then had the opportunity to see it in person and hated it.

I immediately lift the car up in the air as soon as i had the chance to confirm and make sure I didn’t get shafted.
I have the 7000 on order. Costco had a Canada day sale. I do winter/summer change overs on 7 cars, plus the track set-up on my M4 multiple times per year so I'm actually pretty excited for it

Great news.
A few months ago CanAutM3 and I couldn't find any supporting part number confirmation in the CS online literature. Good to have a physical visual confirm.

Or is this just BS from BMW, cost cutting and then making the claim of a “A narrower, "M-specific high-performance" steel part will take their place instead. BMW asserts that it has engineered the steel shaft to retain the "superlative performance and handling qualities" achieved with the carbon fiber component”...to make us feel better?

CF or special steel, whatever!
It's called bullshit on an AG scale.

Do you not see every enthusiast BMW model becoming either FWD or AWD with ZFat? BMW is cost cutting big time.

Yeah, funny how it’s still being offered in the BMW parts bin for purchase, so if you want to pay up you can. Guess it fits fine then!

Then how the CS models deals with the claimed additional emission component due to new regulations? It says it was more like that BMW lied and they actually did that for cost saving?

I do, even though it could be steel right now and I wouldn't know the difference. I know it's dumb, but I'm a gear head so..........
Good point

I thought about it for a quick second when I was ordering the 2020 but felt that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Obviously if I had the choice I would go for the carbon fiber.

I care about the carbon fiber roof and I know that's dumb. Haha. I could have gotten a better deal on a 2019 the dealer had with a sunroof but I said fuck that noise I want the carbon roof

My wife just shakes her head at me

I would think the cf roof has more of an impact on overall perform than the prop shaft. So no worries!

Yes. It's just cool to have a carbon roof. I pulled up next to my buddy the other day and he was like "that carbon fiber roof is awesome"

An M3/M4 with the sunroof (40-50 extra pounds at the top of the car vs CF roof), non carbon driveshaft (40% weight savings over steel as quoted by bmw on the f80 press release, on a rotating drivetrain part no less), and DCT transmission ( 40 pounds).

pretty significant in my opinion when you add it all up.

I know I can feel a difference in performance when I have a passenger in the car with me.

I am all for weight savings and I do believe that every bit counts and add up to achieve the overall result.

However, the overall effective weight impact (effective weight factors the rotating mass effect) of the CF shaft over the two piece steel one is not that significant.

IMO it is more a question of drivetrain rigidity.

Lower center of gravity and thus lower overall weight, all improve drive performance.

Looks like they dropped the prices from bmw Canada but the interest rates for lease and finance have gone up considerably, roughly 5-6% rates.

Lease on M3CS is not possible anymore. Only finance

Haven't made up my mind yet if I'm going to get it
