Do you happen to have a link to the post off hand? I was searching the F8x related groups I'm a part of and was wondering if it was posed in one that I'm not a member of. I'm genuinely curious to read about the circumstances surrounding it.

Chris@VargasTurboTech You're absolutely correct, there are a whole slew of variables that could be accounted for which could effect the outcome: break away under constant force, drive train shock from a kick down, high load low RPM. There's also the factor as you stated that someone may wait until a higher mileage to address the crank hub issue, and there's no way to know for sure the level of integrity of the hub at that point.

What I'd suggest then as an alternative to the mathematical model is using a test rig to measure the break away force based on unaltered factory specifications: crank bolt torqued to spec and friction disks confirmed to be intact. By simulating a shock load similar to a WOT launch at different torque values (as that would likely be the most extreme example of shear force the friction disks would experience) it might provide a good baseline. As has been stated before though there's no guarantee that a CBC alone would work if the torque specs are off or other variables are present, but it would at the very least give people an idea what the limitations of the stock hub are under perfect conditions.

That’s the first one I’ve heard. When you say “multiple”, where else have you read it?

Hey when they redid your crankhub did they torque to factory spec or over torque and then put on the CBC?

Super glad to hear it's holding up for you with all that power just curious on the details. Thanks!

It has a bit more on it but don't want to give advise on TQ to yield bolts other than to go to spec.

It's just a lot of trolls. If someone asks questions they will automatically say "spun crank hub"

I'm guilty of that for dumb questions.
