Looks like some of the car magazines are stating that the Alfa went 7:39 on the Nurburgring. Road and Track said that is the fastest sedan lap ever.

I am still curious how is this possible... a 13 second difference between an m3?

I am wondering about this also. So many of these sedans that are coming out are proving to be solid performers (C63 AMG, ATS-V, Alfa). I don't know if it is the suspension, traction control management, power output, tires, etc. where the M3/4 are differing compared to all of these competitors. I love my M4, but there is a lot of competition now.

Lighter and more horsepower. A lot more power and almost 200lbs lighter.

The Italians know how to make cars too. I'd buy the Guilia for the exhaust note alone though.

Please, don't be a build quality and reliability disaster... Would be soooo nice to have a proper option to the M3 that is not heavy, blingy, ugly, dated, awd or all of the above. Go Alfa!

According to an german industriel source:
http:// http://unternehmen-heute.de/...?newsid=304347
... there are two Alfa Giulia QV an "normal" beginning at ~ € 72.000 and for ~ € 90.000 you could get an more hardcore version lighter, sportier and faster ... with CCBs, Sparco Carbon-Raceseats, etc.

Alfa will be giving BMW some serious competition here.

Seems like BMW's CEO got the 7:39 time at Frankfurt today...I'm sorry that was bad taste but apparently he is doing just fine.

A little to soon, but I hope he is fine. From what I've read the auto shows can cause a great deal of stress and lack of sleep.

How much you wanna bet that this is the R compound or slick, cage , weight reduced, ccb and stiffened model? That ran the sub 7:40

Still-it's quicker than many cars including track focused ones that are more expensive

But I think to compare apples to apples, we will have to wait for the Sport Auto lap time on a bone stock car, not the factory driver with the Ring special.

And we will have to wait for the ZCP, GTS and CSL versions of our favorite car as well.

You guys need to remember that all other things being equal, tires are usually worth 1sec per mile of lap or thereabouts, so at the Ring you can easily have an 8-10 sec improvement just by switching to a wider set of Cup tires...

And I am sure that if we wait for another year that something else better comes along. Sometimes I wonder what some people are actually doing on these forums about BMW.

Same source as from my link from yesterday ... wrotes today:
Quote:
With around 510 hp from a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 developed by Ferrari engineers for 72,000 euros Giulia QV goes to the starting line. Anyone who invests 90,000 euros, can order the limited Start-Edition in which the bonnet and the roof are made of carbon and take the driver and passenger place in tight Sparco bucket seats

When z06 has an epic vir time faster than 918 its all about how unfair it is that it is a magazine driver in 918 vs factory driver with full support.

But when its a competitor with factory driver and full support team vs bmw driven by a magazine its immediate proof that bmw is worse.

Porsche has done a really nice job with brand and fans. Or maybe it is just this site and some of our members need to just sell their m3 already

Why the hell people getting worked up on ring times. This alfa is gonna be great car as well. As long as reliability isnt an issue, id consider this alfa a serious thought over M3 or c63.
