Do you have the new LCI icon full LED or the pre-LCI full LED ?

The hardware is different. US cars seem to have circuitry and a LED array missing on the driver’s side high beam on icon headlights. So even if you have the coding done, they won’t function properly. Quite a few have already tried it without success.

Exactly. No point in coding NGHB/Anti Dazzle on LCI US Spec lights

Thanks

The hardware is different on NA LCI headlights. It will not work properly and you will be blinding oncoming traffic...

Please find a deserted place to test these, if possible, and bring along another car so you can get an objective opinion from someone who plays the part of oncoming traffic. When I tried this with my US-spec lights, the right headlight was throwing a ton of light forward when it should not have.

I stuck a few cameras to the car and went for a drive last night to try to better visualize what the headlights were doing. I may do another with the cameras positioned more in front of the headlights. Toward the end, an oncoming car was over 1 km away and my high beams hadn't dipped yet, but as soon as the car flashed me they reacted instantly.

Thank for posting the videos, my headlight are no longer bright as your video after the coding, I think something has gone wrong and will be going back to oem setting. The light look dull and not bright at all, my wife mentioned the same thing as we drove out on te country roads and looked dangerously dim for headlights not shooting far away or sides.

It is well known that US spec F8X ICON headlights doesn't have ability to work as NGHB/Anti Dazzle.

Thanks for the reply, I'm waiting on the coder to reset the lights back to the normal oem mode.

I conducted another test a few nights ago and positioned the front cameras to see into the lights a little better. It required me to use the lenses from a pair of old sunglasses to keep from blinding the sensor on the camera. I also cut out all of the gaps in the video and uploaded it in 4K. If there is something specific you want to know about the lights, please let me know.

I have these same part numbers and the build date is 2018-07-17, yet my anti-dazzle coded by Alpine does not seem to work properly... arguably unusable.

When I'm behind another vehicle, no tunnel of light is formed, just the passenger side is illuminated. The system seems to be often confused and drivers think I am flashing my high beams at them from behind. Oncoming traffic is much worse, too frequently cars flash their high-beams at me... so I leave the auto-high beam off. I am also lowered, have not adjusted the headlights manually, & coded angel eyes to 100% brightness.

Is there any way to tell if I have the hardware without removing the headlights before I code back to stock?

Alex did the same thing to me. He coded my car, then afterward told me it wasn't going to work regardless. Nice, huh?

Check out the video I made with my US-spec lights right after I go them coded. They didn't work at all. No tunnel, and I got flashed all the time, so auto high beams were unusable.

You can verify whether or not your lights have the proper hardware by inspecting the circuitry on the underside of the outboard lights.

You need your left outboard high beam to have similar circuitry to the Euro version shown above. If your left outboard circuit board is mostly blank, then it's not possible.

Thank you for all this info, your last clip following the M3 explains why people have been flashing me .

I saw some of these photos earlier in the thread but could not locate the circuitry/modules from plain sight. Do you have to remove the headlight housing to see the circuitry? Thanks again!

No, get down low and look into the headlight from in front of the car. You need to be below the lights looking upward at the underside of the reflector “paddle” that splits each light into an upper half and lower half.

So I just picked up my 2018 M4 LCI with Icon LED adaptive lights (Canadian car for what it's worth, 6/18 build date).

From what I can see, both outboard LED's have the circuitry / chips that's been discussed in all the photos in this thread. I also have 5AP (Decoding For No-dazzle High-beam) and 8S4 (Decoding Variable Light Distribution).

I do not have a dedicated high beam assist button like my old 2015 with LED's, just a regular turn signal stalk.

Am I shit out of luck?

Does your car have Speed Limit Info displayed on the HUD or gauge cluster? If you have a KAFAS camera it may be possible to retrofit the proper stalk, but I would need to examine schematics and you would need to see if the requisite wiring exists in your car.
