Retardation? At least I'm capable of seeing what's on the road instead of driving into a enormous pothole. Instead of being a fucking dick maybe open those damn eyes when you are driving. BTW CIVIC SI doesn't offer LED paddle shifters, but E60 and E46 Ms both offered. Not quite sure what your definition of rice is

I guess you are comparable with that pothole. Aren't you?
You just do not get it. This isn't an E series.

BMW essentially uses the IDENTICAL electronic box for EVERY paddle assembly in the F series.

The ONLY difference is the paddle that is attached with a screw to the paddle electronics box. There ARE NO electronics that are run through the paddles. Furthermore, there is no 12VDC running through the paddle electronics.

The E Series as TOTALLY DIFFERENT in their design.

NRW have tritium inlay options for their paddles. Not cheap though.

Yeah. This is what I was thinking. Wouldn't be hard to get a button cell battery to fit.

Based on the following steering wheel wiring harness, if any of the (+) positive wire is getting constant power from the car when it's started and the brown wire is always the ground. Simply connect the LED paddle shifter (+ and -) wire to this set of wires would get the leds working.

Someone put their money where their mouth is and make this come to fruition. Luckily in my 6mt the single paddle in the middle of the console is already lit.

crazy that someone else wants this. I don't have a company but I made my own -

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1737615

I saw some questions but most of them are addressed in my post but I will mention the key points again below.

1. Power and Ground came from within the steering wheel itself (that was the easiest part)
2. The RPM signal to the paddles comes to the steering from an unused pin - very nice of BMW to leave it open for me.
3. I made a "gizmo" with a CAN BUS transceiver that I installed by the shifter (the gizmo also switches the driving mode from ECO to SPORT when I floor it and back to ECO after a 5 second timer.
4. The RPM pattern is early in ECO mode (full LEDs by 4000 rpm) and normal (full LEDs at 6700 rpm).
5. The paddles also have their own vibration motors; you can hear them if you listen for them although next time around I wanted to hot-wire the existing Vibro in the wheel.

In doing all of this, I also found out my steering wheel has a heater element, just not wired up and no switch on the column. The paddles turned out to be rather huge so I took them off and am currently making smaller ones (although with no real timeline or urgency to finish them).

^ wow. Hats off to you
Saw the other thread and movie as well. This is how greatness starts... with an idea and some determination.
WD40 took 39 times for the formula to get right.

What about a multi colored SMD LED that illuminates a + and - and changes in color as RPM’s increase lol

Keep up the tinkering!

I appreciate the thought and engineering, but that looks terrible. I'm less concerned about the distracting lights, but the dimensions are ridiculous.

thanks for the feedback - the next ones will be smaller and more asthetic. I do like the skinny CF paddles that another member posted but I HATE stick-on; just not my style. Not sure if you caught my comment, but my next ones will be smaller.

That said, your thoughts were the LEDs were distracting, but that is kind of the point. Also, there is a vibro in the paddles. Now that I have got a finished proof of concept, I can proceed and apply the suggestions that everyone has made. Honestly, I think I will have a different car by then.

Anyone with a G-chassis willing to try this? I'm game for making something.

your car is not running 24/7/365 and look at a key fob battery, are you replacing them every day?
