Caliper Paint Color

So I am going to get my calipers painted on my imola Red f80 this Friday. I keep going back and forth between paint matching with imola red or just doing a traditional bright red like brembo. I currently have brushed silver BBS with red caps and BBS red lug nuts.

*Have even though about gold as the BBS letters on the caps are gold, but didn't want to come off as a CCB imitation brakes.*

All opinions requested and welcome.

Anyone know where I go to turn this into a poll?

I think contrast will work well for you here. I'd go with a yellow.

Just make sure you use a higher temp paint and not the one BMW uses on the blue calipers. Unless it's just a daily driver, then you're fine.

My blue calipers turned to green and now slowly to black from heat on the track.

No plans to track currently and having TAG Motorsports do it as I have heard alot of positive reviews from their work

Needs contrast, if you go red you will barely notice. Yellow.

^agreed I like yellow for brakes. White would also look good against the richness of the red.

Yellow + red = Ronald McDonald.

I would match Imola.

Between the options you gave, I'd just paint match it Imola Red.

If it was my car, I'll repeat what I recently posted on the YMB thread asking the same question:

I'd paint it a bright silver, like AMG brakes. Keep ///M logo, with stripes original colors and change letter M from white to black. I'd do it on my car if it wasn't white. I don't think I've seen anyone do this, but I think it would look especially good on Comp Pack cars, where all the trim and badges are blacked out anyways.

I was going to say yellow until the Ronald McDonald comment. Now I can't disassociate the two haha.

Thanks all, definitely leaning towards imola then. I like the yellow idea but I think for stock brakes it doesn't look as good because of their size. If I was doing BBK then I would definitely go yellow.

The big debate for me was really brembo red vs imola. Looks like based on opinion (or lack of) it's best to leave gold for the CCBs.

Exactly, never yellow calipers on a red car please! Just go with a nice bright red to pop. If you try to match it to the color of the car and screw up, it's going to show.

Although yellow on red looks good on exotic cars with huge calipers or cars with aftermarket BBKs, OEM non-CCB calipers are tiny on our F8x vehicles. I'm not sure I would accentuate the rears in yellow. If you go aftermarket BBK I'd choose yellow on red. If it's OEM calipers, I'd pick a shade of red. Not color match but perhaps darker would provide a nice contrast yet not scream look at my tiny calipers.

Yeah don't.

Red and Yellow is too associative to Mcdonalds.

Same with Yas and Red brakes/interior = Superman....

Go silver or black for a cleaner contrast. Or your original idea of matching red.

I see what you are saying about the possible mistake on imola red. My idea for this has been inspired by an original imola e46 with brembos and CSL wheels.

But if the color match is on point I think it will look good with the white lettering. Decision day is tomorrow morning!

That's the best looking M3 I've seen and you didn't stuff it up with black wheels! Don't know why they dropped red from the F Series

I'd paint the calipers Brembo red

Thank you for the kind words. I really like the look of brushed silver on imola. Based on shop recommendation brembo vs imola, I went imola as they said it would flow better. But they is something a little extra we are doing that should come out really nice and unique!

Am I the only one who thinks the blue looks good as-is? It's true to the car.

I do agree with you in most cases. With color scheme I was going for, I felt the blue stuck out akwardly on my car. That is just my 2 cents so I used both pennies to have it changed.
