Caliper Paint Color
So I am going to get my calipers painted on my imola Red f80 this Friday. I keep going back and forth between paint matching with imola red or just doing a traditional bright red like brembo. I currently have brushed silver BBS with red caps and BBS red lug nuts.
*Have even though about gold as the BBS letters on the caps are gold, but didn't want to come off as a CCB imitation brakes.* All opinions requested and welcome.

I think contrast will work well for you here. I'd go with a yellow.
Just make sure you use a higher temp paint and not the one BMW uses on the blue calipers. Unless it's just a daily driver, then you're fine. My blue calipers turned to green and now slowly to black from heat on the track. |

Between the options you gave, I'd just paint match it Imola Red.
If it was my car, I'll repeat what I recently posted on the YMB thread asking the same question: I'd paint it a bright silver, like AMG brakes. Keep ///M logo, with stripes original colors and change letter M from white to black. I'd do it on my car if it wasn't white. I don't think I've seen anyone do this, but I think it would look especially good on Comp Pack cars, where all the trim and badges are blacked out anyways. I was going to say yellow until the Ronald McDonald comment. Now I can't disassociate the two haha. |

Thanks all, definitely leaning towards imola then. I like the yellow idea but I think for stock brakes it doesn't look as good because of their size. If I was doing BBK then I would definitely go yellow.
The big debate for me was really brembo red vs imola. Looks like based on opinion (or lack of) it's best to leave gold for the CCBs. |

Although yellow on red looks good on exotic cars with huge calipers or cars with aftermarket BBKs, OEM non-CCB calipers are tiny on our F8x vehicles. I'm not sure I would accentuate the rears in yellow. If you go aftermarket BBK I'd choose yellow on red. If it's OEM calipers, I'd pick a shade of red. Not color match but perhaps darker would provide a nice contrast yet not scream look at my tiny calipers.

But if the color match is on point I think it will look good with the white lettering. Decision day is tomorrow morning! Last edited by nano10; 09-06-2019 at 02:22 PM.. |

Thank you for the kind words. I really like the look of brushed silver on imola. Based on shop recommendation brembo vs imola, I went imola as they said it would flow better. But they is something a little extra we are doing that should come out really nice and unique!
