G82 in SF

Went to pick up my wife's X3 at BMW SF and they had an G82 on display.

Black on black, Premium Package, and a couple other small options. MSRP 81k plus 20k of ADM...not sure who will pay 101k.

First time seeing the G8X in person. It certainly looks better than in pictures as others have said. Grilles, hard to get used to them but maybe if color is dark one will eventually accept them. The rear is very busy. Personally, the wheels are way too busy. Overall, the design is kind of trying too hard I think, too many angles and edges. My conclusion is that it's better suited for a younger segment (under 40), I don't think I'd buy one to replace F80.

On positive news, I bought an E46 from a forum member! Now I have to wait a few weeks for the enclosed transport.

The chronological age is just a number. True age is in the brain. I am 64 years old and I have an f83 and an e46 convertible. 4 doors are too many for me...

I’ve already seen brokers advertising discounts for these, and I’ve counted at least 4 on offer at sticker in various Facebook groups with no immediate takers.

Things vary by region, but a $20k adjustment is totally laughable.

It’s just awful, I want more than anything to love these cars and it just gets worse. The F80/82 are gorgeous at all angles to me, that picture I posted just shows how bad these new cars are without even really seeing the grills.

20k markup, so somebody pays $100k for a car that will be worth at best $55k in 30 months. I wish I could light money on fire like that.

Even if the car turns out to be a powerhouse with tunes which, leased, I wouldn't even consider.

I'm predicting as the after market parts start rolling in, bigger wheel options, modified examples etc...it will be well adopted. This reminds me of when Chris Bangle came onto the scene years ago and caused a huge uproar with his designs which eventually became business as usual. I myself am skeptical and am not a fan of the G80 but assume my mind will change later.

I haven’t been following too much tbh but find it interesting that they’re already in dealer hands because I haven’t really seen many owner reviews saturate the site yet. Maybe need to visit the G8X M subsection; I’m not banned yet

Congrats on the purchase OP. Unlike the dealer you actually have a beautiful M3 on your hands.

I can't really fault this model for this as tons of BMWs are unfortunately afflicted with this problem, but look at that fender gap. Absolutely horrendous, you could house a small child comfortably in that cavernous gap. I fully understand many people don't like the tucked look and I get it (ok I dont't really but I'm trying to be diplomatic) but can't they at least drop it a *bit*? Sucks having to spend all that money for the car then instantly needing another $3k for coilovers.

It would be sweet if M cars came stock with the M Performance springs so everybody could get their desired ride height. I'm pretty sure with Porsche GT cars and even Corvette's you can lower the factory springs so I don't get why BMW doesn't go the same route. Maybe put some more R&D into the springs so they're refined enough to be acceptable amongst all the consumers
