M3 Competition Stage 1

Considering Stage 1 tuning my car with Bootmod3.

Has anyone done this with a completely stock car? And did you run into any trouble?
I've heard and read chat about the crank hub, but would you really be putting that much extra strain on it with a stage 1 tune?
Anything else I should know?

Thanks

What's the fastest you've driven your car?

Most will say do your CH first.

Some will say I am on stage 1 stock and no issues.

A tune will void a warranty if you have one.

Do more "searching" here . Then decide for yourself.

It's a waste if you're not racing your car...

I don't think you need to worry about your CH on a stage 1, it's still within limits, even then some can put on stage 2 and all the bells and whistles without any issues and some say they spun it stock.

In my opinion, the power is already enough stock and the traction is too limited in these cars to bump power without also addressing that issue. Even with a tune, there will be an infinite number of faster cars so if you want straight line speed sell and go with something else more designed to help you excel there.

If you just have to tune, I’d recommend safe guarding the crank hub first.

Not sure I follow that logic?

I never race anyone on the streets... but more power is always welcome in my book.

If a SCH wasn't a " thing" and voiding a warranty wasn't a "thing" id prolly be on stage 2 right now.

My 2015 GTI had a stage 1 tune; 313HP 380 torque

The power was great but no real benefit on the street for "me".

I went back to stock and upgraded the suspension and tires and the car was actually more fun/faster.

F80 makes more like 480 crank hp or there is no way it's posting 3.9 0 to 60.

I personally don't care for more power; or perhaps my race bike gives me all the power rush I need...

OP- get the tune you'll enjoy it.

Seems a lot of people when they first get these cars they think they need a tune because that's just what you do! GET A TUNE! maybe its a younger crowd thing.

I 100% agree that a stock F8x the power is plenty and 99% of the time is enough to keep me smiling. But 1% of the time I wouldn't mind a quicker rip from 30-70

I run stage 1 for the street and actually move down to the GTS map for track days.

stage 1 is borderline too much for the car around town.

but its nice to have on the highway.

May want to consider running a crank bolt capture. A much more affordable solution if you aren’t pushing the car more than a gts or stage 1 tune.
