Stock Rotors Average Lifespan

I'm at 42k miles and stock pads are getting pretty low, so I'm planning to replace them in the near future. Trying to figure out if I should go ahead and replace rotors also, or if that is complete overkill at this point.

My rotors have a noticeable lip around the edge, but I don't have anything to measure the thickness accurately. There are no cracks whatsoever and no vibrations.

I know there are a million factors that can influence how they wear, but is there a general consensus on about how many miles the stock (steel) rotors should last under normal street driving?

No. You need to measure them to assess how much life is left. Good luck.

Just do the pads, they are a really easy DIY.

Now, if your rotors look like mine on the 2019 M4, it’s rotor time.

As a reference: total miles 22k & track miles 3.5k, I have been beating on this beach.

You can purchase an inexpensive micrometer on amzn to measure girth.

If your rotor has a fault line like Suds then replace asap.

Yep, probably just going to have to get a micrometer then, but haven't needed one for anything before this. No sign of any fault lines yet
