Error messages after parking in hot sun
Hi guys,
I have had the following error messages (only occurred twice, upon trying to start the car when it has sat parked in the hot sun): First occurrence: 1. Chassis Function restricted Second occurrence: 1. Pedestrian alert function has failed. 2. Front-end collision warning failure. 3. Front camera based support system failed. According to this thread this is a known BMW issue, with no solution: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1283221 Has anyone experienced this, and perhaps found a work-around? It could get annoying if this happens repeatedly in the hot Australian sun... |

I live in Melbourne, i believe one of the days last week (Tuesday 19th? was 37c ish) or so i had this come up after parking in the hot sun all day. I had the same error messages, excluding the chassis error. I just put it down to the sun screwing with the sensors. I just kept driving and the errors cleared as i was heading down the freeway. I found a few posts with similar reports but no apparent fixes. Not much help - but at least can confirm you aren't alone with this |

You’re probably better posting this in a technical part of the M3 forum, likely gets overlooked being in the Australia sub forum.
FWIW I haven’t had any issues with mine even on super hot days. |

Thanks guys.
These errors do clear themselves, so the situation is definitely triggered temporarily with the car sitting in the hot sun. It would be nice if there was some sort of work-around. For now, I am keeping a 1cm gap with the windows when it is hot and sunny, and it seems to be doing the trick... This is not an ideal solution though... |
