Anyway - tried some Meguiar's leather conditioner on it and it made it look a bit better but the scuffs are still there.

Earlier this week car went into the dealer to upgrade software under warranty so I asked if they could check it out to see if BMW can do anything about the seat. Got a call today from my SA that BMW are going to repair the seat at their cost as a gesture of goodwill. So thanks to BMW it will get sorted.
That's great news,!,!

That's pretty awesome. It never hurts to ask. That's a quality dealer right there.

Ha, I was going to tell you that Maguire's leather conditioner and Leatherique aren't even remotely similar, but it's a mute point. Congratulations - you've got a great dealer!

Leatherique is a bit more difficult to get my hands on than Meguiar's, so thought I'd try that basic stuff first. Yep, I'm super happy about the dealer's response. Real lucky.

FYI. Colourlock works great on black BMW leather scuffs. I bought this product locally in the UK, but the item can be purchased on Amazon.

Any updates on this? Did they fix the bolster or replace the entire seat?

Very easy to fix

Hey guys, just wanted to share my recent experience with restoring the bolster wear on the seats. Mine was not as bad as some of the pictures that have been shared, but it was noticeable on the driver's side.

I just fixed mine, and they came out great.

I ordered some dye off Amazon...it was pricey but I think well worth it, plus there is more product than I would use throughout my ownership of the vehicle.

Colourlock Leather Fresh Dye DIY Repair

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just dabbed some of this on there, and let it dry. Then I used some 303 protectant for the leather.

303 (30313-CSR) UV Protectant Spray for Vinyl, Plastic, Rubber, Fiberglass, Leather & More

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If any of you guys are in the Atlanta area, I would be more than willing to let you use some. It really came out great, just thought I would share.

Nice, I've been considering Colourlock to repair my bolster.

FYI to anyone who needs to repair their seats: if you contact Colourlock directly with the last 7 in your VIN + details and pictures of what you need repaired, they'll reply with detailed instructions, and a hyperlink that automatically creates a cart with everything you need.

One thing I noticed is the Amazon kit you linked doesn't have the scrub pad to level the damaged surface, the Colourlock mineral spirits leather cleaner and the mini brushes to get between the stitching. Curious if you had issues repairing damage between stitching or you just went over it with the dye as well?

That is awesome, I did not know that Colourlock would provide the scrub pad and mini brushes if one would provide the last 7 digits of the VIN#. Getting in between the stitching was the most difficult part. I used the edge of the foam pad to get the parts in between the stitching as best as I could and managed to avoid dying the stitching. I wish I would have taken some before pics. I have been checking every night to see if it has reverted back to what it looked like before, and it looks very good. I will take some pics and post them up. I also hit parts where it looked like the previous owner's jean studs slid and scuffed up the bottom parts pretty bad, but it all turned out great.

Just curious why you think this is warrantable? This is not a manufacturing defect. This is customer abuse.

Yea, it's not through Amazon but their direct site. The total ends up being about $150 shipped for the whole package including the additional cleaner and tools. There's differences in pricing like the scrub pad and big brush is ~$5 on direct vs ~$10 on Amazon. The mini brushes aren't available on Amazon plus the tax they charge kinda counters their free shipping.

I think once I have time to start the project, I'm gonna buy directly from them. I'll try to remember to take before and after pics to report back.

Try conditioner before redying your leather! It's worth a shot. Here's how my competition seats look after spending some time in the garage applying this leather honey to them!

I’ve had mine for 16 months and the bolster and blue band on steering wheel had shown some wear.

Went back to a great company called colorglo.

They have always done a superb job
