Valentine Gen 2 mirror install advice

Any of you guys have experience with this mirror tap set up by Blendmount? Is it easy to tap power from mirror with this kit? What kind of installer can do it properly. Prefer not to tackle it myself. 2018 F80. Thanks in advance.

I received a Valentine Gen 2 for Christmas. I installed the power tap to the rear view mirror this past weekend and it was a walk in the park. I'm thinking about fabricating my own mount that will be similar to the blend mount so that I can do away with the suction cups.

Ok thanks. So are you saying with the blend mount the suction cups cannot be removed from the V1?

The blend mount doesnt use suction cups. I was referring to doing away with the suction cups that are on the standard Valentine mount that it comes with in the box. The blend mount looks like a perfect solution, I just like making small parts like that on my own when I can.

It would be way cheaper to just buy the blend mount vs making my own mount but I enjoy making things like that.... kinda like a hobby.

Make sure you buy the legit mirror taps and not the knock off. Bought a knock off and when my car got hot (which is every day in Florida) the tap would stop working. Swapped to a legit one and it had no issue!

I have a V1 Gen2 and a Blendmount in both my M4 and my wife's M3. I also bought the Valentine Savvy for both cars and run the power from that. I ran the cable across the windshield, tucked under the headliner. I removed the driver-side A-pillar cover and ran the wire down the A-pillar (you have to make sure that you don't cover/cross the airbag. I pulled out the driver-side air vent and the dash end panel and ran the power behind that and out to the Savvy in the OBDII port under the dash. Virtually invisible installations!

The blend mount kit comes with a mirror power tap. I would hope it's a good one. Thanks for the heads up. Good info

I bought the BlendMount w Tap for my Escort 9500ix. Worked great, pretty simple install.

Forget tapping wires, I'm using the Saavy install kit. Uses the OBD port, and skips any city/low-speed false alarms. Just need to figure out how to hide the wires around the OBD port

I use JBV1 app on my phone, it does the same thing that the Savvy does without wires. It also connects to Waze for traffic/speed trap alerts, gives you weather, gps lockouts, alerts suspicious airplanes, etc. It really is a great addition to Valentine 1 gen 2.

Correct, same here. But the Savvy gives you the option to run power for both the V1 and the Remote Display from the OBDII port. You can disable the low-speed warning on the Savvy and use that feature in JBV1, using the Savvy only for the dual power source.

Great guys, thanks for the advice and info. This is the route I'm going to take.
