Thanks for pictures. Beautiful Car OP! Congratulations! I am glommed with jealousy.

Also, thanks for posting up close pics of the cloth, it has helped me make my decision.

Whoa... I got a little nauseated looking at those pictures. It's not the look of the cloth, just the orientation of the pictures combined with the pattern.

Wait, why are you on these forums? To bash the brand of car you drive?

BMW quality is pretty damn good compared to 80% of the other motors out there. Its not such a hard thing to line of the angle of pattern on cloth before stitching, so really theres no excuse. If this was a honda, I would think the same thing. And by looking at the other pics, this wasent just a single mistake.

My point was its a 65k car. 90k would give the impression the car is really 40% more costly than it is.

I can keep listing all the minor quality issues that shouldn't have existed, but it's a waste of time.

Overall, based on my observation of quality control and attention to details, BMW is one of the worst if not the worst amongst it's segment and competitors.

If you like to further discuss this, feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Let's keep to the topic, congrats on your new car!

Hmm, 13 cars in (..the ///M4 will be my 14th), and I couldn't disagree with you more.

As much as I love the OEM 18 wheels on the e46 M3, I think the 18's look way too small on this car.

As for cloth seats, personally, I will wait until alcantara is offered on the competition package.

It may be leather; I was hoping it was leatherette for preventing wear on the front seat bolsters. I don't think it is the same leather as used on other interiors as it is textured (or the pics look like it is) I have not noticed that on the other leather interiors. I was pretty down today about having to change my order to leather but I know that I would not be happy with the cloth. I still look forward to seeing a car with CSAT in the future as they will definitely be rare and different. Just wish I could have stuck with it.

Congrats! I think it looks great and I'm sure it looks better in person.

Why does the regular F3x get nice alcantara seats but the high end F8x get cheap looking cloth seats? Should be the other way around...

The irony is that alcantara is cheap junk. Recycled plastic. There is a flame retardant variety, which would offer some benefit over cloth, but it's unlikely that BMW use this. Alcantara does look the part though. Pairs well with the CF trim.

Hehehe, did you see that during the test drive of my M5 during the sales process the clutch started slipping? (Granted he got it nice and hot, but still)

That was some money I would've preferred to keep

I'm now thinking Sonoma Beige. It has looked ridiculously good in pictures, goes well with the exteriors I'm considering, and contrasts the best with the CF interior trim. I also think people think "beige" and recoil, but this is one sharp interior. It also looks the best with the perforated sections.

I won't do the exec package though. It's value is just too terrible. I WILL NOT.

Yeah, I read that. Figures. We have Dakota Beige in our E60 550i and it has held up great for 8 years, granted I'm not in it all the time, but proper leather treatment does the trick.

No, really, please do provide a list of minor quality issues to back up your claim that "BMW is one of the worst if not the worst amongst its (yes, it is "its", not "it's") segment and competitors."

I want to know so I can cancel my M3 order before it is too late like you finding out all the problems after you paid for your BMW.

JD Power seems to disagree with the prior poster.

Thanks guy's. I am very happy with cloth seats it looks a lot better in person. If you want luxury than you have to go with leather. MT is the best I drove from BMW and I owned a lot. Very close to 7 speed Porsche I drove last year.
