M3 vs M3 CP video
So.... after thick fog, torrential rain, blown batteries and one broken mic, have managed to pull something out of my disastrous day of filming!
Here you go.... Not as I'd want but there we go - had to get something up!!

Awesome video.
You should look into DriveTribe, it seems new social thing by Clarkson, Hammond and May. I signed up last week and received an email for submitting your own clips. This one would be perfect! http://drivetribe.com/driven |

Thanks all. NOT happy at all with the video but I'm the most self-critical person in the world. Have an opportunity for cracking content off-road on Thursday - manically trying to sort out a cameraman to help film it.....

Another excellent vid Guy!
Keep em coming...... With regards the traction differences between the two cars, I've read a few reports on the CP that are all very similar. Here's one from TG which describes what you are experiencing with the CP: http://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/m3/first-drive "The rear differential is transformed. It’s much more subtle in its actions, more precise and much more confidence inspiring. Now, when you open the taps on the way out of a corner, it feels like both wheels are driving, trying to get traction and drive forwards, not trying a spot of sideways showboating. It’s still fun, and will slide and smoke as much as you want if you disengage the DSC, you loon, but for everyday driving, even on quick, tight, fun roads, it’s not only more effective, but more rewarding, with a nice wide neutral point that makes the chassis feel a lot more balanced." I know they are most likely comparing the CP to the old pre-MY2016, but above still holds true based on what you've found and described. A lot of similarities there. They've obviously done software/hardware/suspension/ARB tweaks to achieve this and don't forget ................ there is a lot more rubber on the road with those 20's.

There's no question on damp stuff earlier in the day, mine felt sturdier and I felt a lot more confident. Now whether that is down to familiarity I couldn't say. I can't help but say that that review is comparing the CP to the old M3. The new M3 (in normal form) meets most that description above.

Very good review Guy. Worthy of a hundred respect points if that's possible. You are doing this off your own back for the purpose of future potential buyers and doing a great job. hat off to you mate. You are so right about the traction improvement of cp as I now always put m2 on with mdm activated and wouldn't have ever considered that when I drove previous non cp models as I was breaking traction in those in efficient mode. Gotta be the wider tyres and improved dampers which Defo makes the cp worth it's extra cash in my eyes. After all that is exactly what cp is meant to do, improve your track time! Not make it is better ride round town

Really enjoyed your review Guy and some lovely shots of the cars too. Particularly liked the travel into each of the interiors which made me glad I chose the Silverstone this time.
What can you blag for a day next...? A GTS perhaps

Thanks for the video Guy, some great shots of your car and very helpful information
Got a question for you, if the std car had a CG valve controller fitted, open as default, would it sound similar to your car? I remember taking an MY16 on a test drive end of last year, and seem to remember it making a few pops from the exhaust in sports mode? does the CP overfuel on lift off to make it more dramatic? Thanks |
